that is such a dumb statement, how many hours do you think the average person plays in a day? its not 3 hours and it sure as hell isnt 3 hours in a single sitting, let alone while being away from a power source.

Outside of a small group of people who like to complain on this internet, a 3-5 hour battery life is fine.

Anybody that legit plays a game for 3 hours and then puts it down either has an extremely hectic life, or just doesn't like video games that much. I play 4 hours minimum. 8 hours on a day off. I average 35-40 hours a week. I ride a bike 7 miles to work, and go to the gym 5 days a week, so it isn't like I'm just sitting around all day munching Doritos and chugging Mountian Dew while gaming.

no, anyone that plays games for 4-8 hours a daily basis simply doesnt have a life.

I'm doing the things I enjoy. Isn't that the definition of "a life"? I don't expect everybody to get in 40 hours of gametime a week. 15 hours is a respectable amount. But who the heck plays any game for 3 hours and then puts it down?

You really only play RPGs.

I think you have me confused with someone else. The last few games I played were Bayonetta 2, Windwaker HD, DKC Tropical Freeze, Nioh, and Horizon Zero Dawn.

gim·mick
ˈɡimik/
noun
  1. a trick or device intended to attract attention, publicity, or business.

Everything is a gimmick going by that definition, the one used in the gaming context talks about features that are considered useless, to be the most flexible console ever is hardly a useless feature.

If you don't think being a hybrid console is a gimmick, then I'm sorry but I just don't know what's going on in your mind.

Let me rephrase, anybody who plays games for 4-8 hours on a daily basis has no life outside of gaming.

@bolded, 99.999999999% of people.

What, then?  Should we add a word with a legimate usage to the banned list?

The problem isn't with people using the word as an insult, it's with people getting upset when the word is used at all, justifying people using it as an insult.

And what should the PC replacement be?  "Hardware advertising point"?  "Marketing feature"?

Maybe it's just me but it feels very unsavory to give in like that.

I'm not saying to avoid to making a stand or cave to what seems to be the norm...just adding why people are going to react a certain way. Your original post seemed to imply that people were being fools for being upset at the usage, when the context of this thread doesn't seem to align with the more accurate usage of the term.

To the OP's question, it's not terribly hard to figure out. We have this:

Which is basically the Switch chip without the LCD/battery/etc.

It costs $199.99 (w/o HDD), though it's been that price for 2 years now so it probably could be sold for less.
