Also - and these things aren't the game's fault - but ever since I dated an anime fan in high school, I've never been able to click with clearly Japanese characters speaking with generic American voices, and Persona 5 is full of that stuff.

You can use the Japanese voices...

Oh god, what's with this year and all the awesome games? Loved Persona 4 on Vita, definitely gonna get this as soon as I have the time! I'll probably play it via remote play, though. Used to play Persona 4 Golden in many small bursts, the game is perfect for that!

While I am hyped for Persona 5 I only really trust that score from Edge.... the other sites... yeah.... not at all.

Back in my days Edge was a meme in the 00s, when did it become a reputable publication?

You can also watch entire playthroughs of P5 already, so the dialogue must be woeful for it to be deemed objectively worse than P4, because the gameplay is amazing.

Edge complained about the dialogues?

I only played 20 hours of the Japanese version and my Japanese is not good enough to understand everything, but it seemed better/more interesting than P4 to me... And P4G is my GOAT game...

(I admit that the first hours of P4 are really boring though)

 

EDIT: Oh, I understand what you were saying. "Way better gameplay + Better dialogues/characters = worse score" does seem stupid...
