PS4's 2017 might actually be comparable to PS2's 2001.

Gravity Rush 2, Nioh, NieR, Horizon and Persona 5 vs GT3, GTA3, MGS2, DMC, FFX, ICO etc.

... okay, not quite enough yet.. but there is still time.

A better year in my opinion.

GTA 3 doesn't hold up even compared to other 3d GTA games. Also its not an exclusive and came to PC and Xbox a year later.

GT3 was a good game but GT4 is the same game with better graphics and physics and more cars and tracks, then GT5 adds more to them and GT6 adds more and improves presentation so GT3 doesn't hold up now which goes for all these types of games including simulation racing and fighting games. The games here will hold up well as the sequels wouldn't be the same game but better.

Devil May Cry is the worst game of the genre and the only good thing it did was start the hack and slash genre which is one of my favourites with RPG's, simulation racing and open world games. But this game was bad.

Ico is the only good one of those PS2 games you are talking about here other than FF X which I haven't played.

You can also add Yakuza Zero to the PS4.

This is pretty much my favorite year in gaming

Another great JRPG releasing. I think almost everyone expected great scores from this game, though. 1 point higher than my prediction I believe.

It has been by far the strongest first half year ever, about the whole year, I still dunno.
2006 had 4 games able to take a 10/10 from me (which is A LOT), and PS1 years were filled with 9+ games all around, so it's hard to tell which is my favorite year (besides LoD year by default) to begin with xD

The 6 must have must play games i want this year are all games i would more than likely give a 10 to, with the exception of Berseria (i give that one like an 8.3 or 8.6) which is still by far the best Tales of game i have played btw, not to mention its 6 "must play immediately" games for me in a year, no other year has come close to that amount, last year it was Uncharted 4 and FFXV and the year before that it was just Bloodborne, there were other games those years that i was excited for (like Digimon Cyber Sleuth, Disgaea 5 and Guilty Gear Xrd) but none of them were "must play immediately" games for me.

And then we have all the other games this year i do wanna play a lot as well but they are not "a must play immediately" for me like Yakuza 0, Digimon World Next Order, Gravity Rush 2, Fate Extella, The new Nep game that looks like the best in the series so far (and you know im a sucker for this series), and all of that is just counting the exclusives... if we do get Red Dead Redemption 2 by the end of the year then there is NO way this isnt my favorite year in gaming.

For a matter of comparision, aside from 2006, the are only 3 years with 2 games I consider 10s, but most of them have just a single one. (some doesn't have a single one)

So 4 perfect scores in a single year, is A LOT, for my standards xP

This year already got 1, which is NioH, Horizon still has chances, and maybe Persona 5, dunno tho, Persona 4 didn't.
NioH is the only game this gen I consider a 10 up until now, I don't consider either Bloodborne or Uncharted 4 as 10 (Uncharted 4 feels like it deserves it, but TLOU just don't let me give it a 10 xD), I don't usually give even Disgaea games (my favorite series) perfect scores xP

I dont really let TLOU hinder my score of Uncharted since they belong to different genres of games, as far as im concerned TLOU is by far the best survival horror game ive played and hence it gets a 10, and Uncharted 4 is the best action adventure game ive played and my favorite Uncharted as well so a 10 no doubt (it exceeded all my expectations and did something i always wanted but no other Uncharted game did, which i wont mention because of spoilers).

And finally Bloodborne was like a 9.7 for me but with the expansion its an easy 10.

Uncharted 4 does stands at the top of what it does but I still can't stop feeling it's not being as fucking amazing as TLOU(it was still incredible) takes away a bit from it for me, because it does, that happens a lot with games from the same franchises/studios, as for example playing MSG 3 after MGS 4 made me see how much better it once was, and feel a bit dissapointed with 4, even as I loved the game all along, that also why I like to play games in their release succession, perspective.

Well, I'm fine with Uncharted 4 not being a 10 for me, so it's how I keep it, Bloodborne as well, even as I greatly enjoyed basically everything in the game, I'm still fine with it not being a 10, my relative perspective of things does amount to my overall opinion about the game, in the end.

Yeah i get it, but in my case that feels unfair, especially because a lot of the things that made TLOU so memorable for me are stuff i would never expect (nor want) from Uncharted.

To keep this on topic (since we have been talking to much about other stuff), i just gotta say almost all those unscored reviews of P5 look like pontential 10s, maybe we can actually see the score go up instead of down.

Wow that meta score! Completely validates my picking up the limited edition for a franchise I know nothing about. April 10th (according to Amazon delivery) can't come soon enough. Kinda bummed that streaming the game is blocked though but whatever

Sounds like my main issue with previous Personas (battling and dungeon crawling being weak/boring a lot of the times) has been mostly fixed. Expectations are skyrocketed.
