Yup this is definitely true.

MK8 wasn't particularly demanding. That's why it was able to stick to 720p/60fps even in 2 player split screen; a significant enough amount of the WiiU's power goes unused in solo play that it can render 2 versions of the tracks, effects, animations, physics, etc, and still hit that target. It's not until it's asked to do it all 4 times that it drops to 30fps. That's not a criticism, MK8 is that way by design. Just thought it should be noted. Regardless, you'd think the docked Switch would be hitting 1080p with all 720p WiiU titles. The jump between 720p and 1080p is 125%, which is within the range of the Switch's hardware jump. Either Nintendo have been rushing their games to keep up momentum (which is arguably justified, Nintendo were in a difficult situation and needed to get the Switch out as soon as possible), or there's an unknown (to us) bottle neck stopping them with some titles. |
Is by far one of the best looking games on Wiiu, with only better resolution and more AA it already looks like a Ps4 game, and it was using most WiiU resources to the point they could never fix a little issue that made the game fall to 59 constantly ( now they have solved that) MK8 was constantly used to proove that the console was more powerful than the previous gen cause it looked fantastic, yet Switch is moving it at 1080p. Sames as fast Racing Neo that was made coding to the metal and yet it jumped from sub 720 to 1080p on Switch.

@bolded: So according to you you say you can still be a Nintendo fan while criticising them, but if someone doesn't immediately criticise Nintendo for something we don't know about yet and doubts it or questions it you wanna immediately call them a 'defence force' like you did earlier in this thread? |
the defence force only references those who immediately claim that the only issues come from people who don't have any interest in the game, not those who simply disagree with the issue

Its already confirmed that they are Switch screenshots, which are notoriously poor, but no one seems to care. |
Well, that explains a lot. Game definitely looks a lot better on the Switch screen than these screenshots.
Lol @ this thread though.

So that means this thread is based on false resolution screenshots...

What you consider "best looking" doesn't dictate how demanding it is.
Re-read my previous comment. As i already said, MK8 can be told to run its environments, animations, physics, etc, twice without any change in performance. That's a fact that can't be ignored, and it's not a criticism either. It looks great because of its effective use of its art style, but titles like Bayonetta 2 and Zelda are considerably more demanding. MK8 has to leave itself a large amount of wiggle room to allow for split screen. There's a reason it's an often ignored feature these days; it's resource heavy.
MK8's 59fps issue wasn't related to power, but frame-timing in the CPU. The issue exists on both solo and 2 play split-screen, despite the latter being far more demanding.

Unlike sony gamers that were playing 408p on Vita, and even sub 400p |
The PSVita is 5 years olf and smaller.
The original splatoon already looked quite "old" on my 60" 4k television, I think on the switch as a handheld it will hold up "ok" but on the tely 720p is going to be a bit of a mess and lets be honest the device isn't even a year old and this is a first party game.
I expect more, if you don't, fine. But don't tell me what to do and I am a PC gamer foremost
Sure the gameplay will be awesome, but the resolution and the sup-par online service from nintendo killed the first one and it looks like it will do the same with '2 for me, but people expect much different things... I am not a fan of the direction Nintendo has headed since the Wii personally.

Well, still looks nice. Coming from a guy with PS4 and high end PC.

Fact is that MK8 and Splatoon were 720p/60fps on Wii U, and now MK8 Deluxe is 1080p/60fps game on Switch. For the record MK8 is one of best looking Wii U games, that isnt case with Splatoon.
I dont like how people here talking like Splatoon 2 is out and like this resolutions from OP are proven facts, because none of those things are true, Splatoon 2 is months from release and current resolutions doesn't mean that will be same on launch, actually I think will most likely will have higher resolution than 720p in docked mode.
