Me... I removed the freaking sales table... lol
MH PSP hype or MH PS2 mediocrity thats the big what if. Any one know why it developed such a huge fan base on PSP yet it failed to do so on PS2 which was much bigger user base ?
Given the lack of success of 3rd party games on the wii, MH might not do as well as some expect it to. Theres also the question of wiimote integration will it ruin the game or not will the developers attempt to "wii fy" MH or not.
Given theres no info at all about MH wii, theres not much to go on let alone guesstimate its potential success's or failures.
Those hoping for a huge seller on the wii go with Dragon Quest, Mh will probably let you down.

I heard something like online co-op. I never played a monster hunter game before so I might pick up the psp one to see what it's like. |
I would advice against it. the Online feature that you can play with friends to battle crazy size monsters is the only appeal in my opinion. I've tried it once and ended up doing completely mindless task, it gets boring fast.
Since you won't have 4 friends to play with, there's no point picking it up.
Soriku (Feb 10/08): In 5 years the PS3/360 will be dead.

Monster Hunter 2 launched on a userbase of 20 million with sales of 357k.
On a userbase probably at 1/3 of the size when MH3 launches this year, how much does anyone expect it to sell?

Really? I played the first one (or second one, I can't remember), I was a girl and half naked, and my first task was to gather wood. I returned my rent in the next day. I HATE mindless tasks

Dmeister- MH has grown like wildfire since its last installment. I have little doubt it will sell at least 1 million in Japan (maybe 1.5 million), also, since capcom said they are trying to market the game more globally it could do 2 million WW. The MH3 will sell 500k week one, and have Ok legs...
End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)
Wii- 72 million 3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases
360- 37 million Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak
PS3- 29 million Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Have you seen how Monster Hunter has sold in america.
You don't have to look.
HORRIBLY.
MHF2 sold 2 million units, and only 200k were in america.
All I'm doing is using past data to predict future trends. The previous console installments haven't crossed a million, so why would this one? People have had 3 chances to buy it on consoles, but haven't. Why would this be any different on another console, with 1/3 of the install base?
Yes, Monster Hunter has grown like wildfire... on the PSP. The PS2 version didn't even have any legs. But the PSP version (MHP2) is still in the top fifty till this day.
I just can't say that MH3 will sell any more than a million units, when it's only done 620k on a console with 3x the install base.
