Forums - Nintendo - solving a puzzle... on the wrong way in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

I got to the golf shrine with the optional chest you have to ulock with a perfect long shot. It took me over half an hour to get this result consistently

After breaking 5 weapons on it I had to give up on this approach. 5 hits with a 2 hand, it will not make it, 6 hits in and out. 14 hits with a spear, doesn't make it, 15 hits in and out. It's broken!

So screw that, time to escape the box. I'll carry the ball myself. First how to get over the fence, no boxes around, no way to fly over. Rememering Quake's rocket jump boost, ragdoll over. It took some experimentation, but with a running jump boosted by double bomb+ at the right moment, bingo.

Ofcourse, damn fuckers made the water too deep. Can't lift it up with an ice pillar nor do anything bbut a useless spin attack.

Ice platforms and carefully place bombs brought the ball to the platform. Except the platform is floating argh, ball disappeared under. Ok drop a weapon in the water and fish it out with magnesis to get it in the proper position.

So tantalizingly in reach, still can't pick it up.

No worries, close enough now for an octo balloon to attach and finally place an ice pillar underneath

Sweet victory!

The reward wasn't worth it after spending well over an hour on that shrine (I forgot to pick up my pristine 78 damage durability+ savage Linal crusher back up in the excitement so had to do it all over again lol. Second time took less than 10 minutes) But this game is truly amazing in how you can interact with the environment and objects.

I solved a few puzzles the lazy way. Using stasis on a pressure plate and running instead of actually trying to obtain the cube or sphere.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

I just solved a puzzle by dumping all of my weapons on one side of a tilt and using them to lift me up on the other side. Then, I used my magnet and brought all of my weapons back to me.

I'm sure I did it wrong but Jesus Christ, this flexibility is incredible.

Couldn't you have used stasis on the tilt?

Lol, ref puzzle in OP, I just flew over the gate with revali's gale

Congrats, you handily beat d21lewis when it comes to time-consuming solutions.

You were actually close to a good solution, but didn't put two and two together. It's not about finding out which weapon type is best suited, it's about combining them. Five hits with a hammer plus one with a one-handed sword and that should do it. This puts the force you put on the ball between five and six hammer hits.

I didn't try swords, already broke 5 weapons getting the aim right! Reloaded and instead didn't scratch any :)

Revali's gale is disabled in shrines!? Or is it just not showing in the interface? In that case can you not simply electrify the whole area with Urbosa's fury?

Not a shrine, great beast.

Ahh check, the camel one. I did use Ravali's gale there to get on top of the humps, flew down inside and used a shock arrow to open the door from the inside instead of getting the electric barrel thing and elevators and gondola working. Then I did it the right way being curious how it was meant to be done.

Fire shrines are also too easy when you carry a fire wand and fire arrows around, or wood and flint to light normal arrows. (They did disable updrafts from large fires in shrines, but that might also work in divine beasts)

There were two tilts. One tilt helped me reach the other tilt.

You do that to also keep the tiny key... but you miss out on a chest by doing that in the place, if it's the same puzzle I did that in, where you had roof spikes over one side of the tilt?

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

I had a similar situation recently with a shrine. It was one where I had to use metal objects to make electric currents to activate switches. I sped up the process by just using one of my weapons as a substitute and avoided any need to rearrange any blocks. I felt so clever
