Where have you been it's pretty much covered all bases , developer in twitter war over not offering a white option for character creation skin color , lead female animator ,in not quaified and hates men furour.

How in God's name is this actually gaining traction...

Is this not a white person?

I take it that the no white option was about the presets ,since bioware talked about looking into a patch ,and  that spilt over into developer Manveer Heir's  anti white men tirade on twitter that 's apparently  seen him fired.

I got my copy one day early (thank you Amazon Prime). The combat system is amazing, but the graphics are ugly and I still have yet to meet a single interesting character.

I predicted 83. damn didn't get it right for any of the versions.

Still very much interested in this game. Not $60 interested though.

Mass Effect - Best metascore 91 on Xbox 360
Mass Effect 2 - Best metascore 94 on Xbox 360
Mass Effect 3 - Best metasocre 93 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3
Mass Effect Anderomeda - Best metascore 78 on PC

Its not a bad score, its a horrible score lol

These days a 75 game on metacritic is like a 4 / 10 movie in metacritic, or rottentomatos xD

It will probably be the end of this  IP, i hope not. a 40 million budget and 5 years, the most they had to make a mass effect game and they done fucked up.

No its the opposite. This generation has generally faced far harsher reviewing. It'd be interesting to see some like-for-like statistical analysis across genres, but rated last gen Andromeda would have been several points higher.

Either way as you've said, a drop down for the franchise. I'll still play it day one and hope for the best, but I am pretty devastated.

I doubt it'll be the end of the franchise. This game is after SWTOR as the primary reason EA bought Bioware. Hopefully it'll be just like ME:1. Dream a little too big, then winnow down into a real great experience with the second game. ME2 is when Mass Effect's rep really exploded.

See, never entirely bought into that primarily because it only ever gets brought up when games score lower than normal.  It never comes up with, say, Breath of the Wild or Uncharted 4.  No one seriously thinks that if they were released last gen those would be 99 Metas.  So yeah, I'm less keen on that idea.  Still, disappointment either way as you said.

Have to disagree with the MS part. I can't see why anyone would want a talented studio to be bought by them given their history and making their teams focus on the same thing over and over again. Don't think they would be any better off under them

Should have just stayed independent

Staying independent isn't always an option though. Don't know the exact situation for Bioware but if they accepted a buyout from EA of all people it may well have been because they had some financial issues and couldn't have survived without it.

Besides, they've pretty much done the same thing over and over at EA anyway, so MS couldn't have been any worse in that respect. Maybe the negative reception of MEA will finally get them to make a new IP again rather than continuously going back and forward between DA and ME.

The issue with staying independent is manifold.  For one, a lot of studios have little in the way of a "war chest" or "rainy day" fund to sustain themselves while seeking independent investment or other means of funding.  They exist from publisher to publisher.  Second, many are not structured for opperating out from uder the auspices of a major corporation.  They don't have the positions and management structure in place to run the company indepdently.  Lastly, a lot of game developers just are not business people.  A lot of developers are similar to a small business owner in that they get into this business cause they like what they do not because they want to run a business.  Most developers lack the management and financial skills and the business acumen to run a business themselves, they depend on the publisher to handle the business side of things.  Being indie dev doesn't just mean developing games independently, it means being a businessman yourself as all that stuff is put in your hands.  Most devs aren't trained for that and don't *want* to deal with it.

I'd have to check when the game launches since my trial is up, but I know for a fact that that's not true for Sara Ryder.

Come to think about it it might be no white male option , maybe i should edit my earlier comment to reflect that.

Anyway , the veracity of the outrage wasn't really my focus , I was just answering Lawlight's question about this game becoming subject to internet outrage like the other titles he mentioned.

I feel stupid. The picture in this thread is male preset three. So yeah. The complaint is pure BS.

Me to looking back at the picture , from what I garnered by googling only scott and sarah have pale skin tone options. so the fuss is getting more pedantic  by the minute.
