I think your the first Person Ive ever heard say they're buying a Mass effect game for its multiplayer.

The co-op multiplayer on Mass Effect 3 felt like it was very entertaiing, like a breath of fresh air when a game didn't force you to compete against others in a PvP. This is why I'm not buying this game for the story, but for the multiplayer mostly.

There are a couple of concerns, as people say the MP is similar to the one on the previous game, and how the potential future content will be added.

I hope the multiplayer doesn't suffer as much from technical issues that the single-player campaign seems to. I enjoyed the ME3 MP for what it was, and even though Andromeda sadly hasn't changed much I would still get some enjoyment out of it.

It's not that 75 is a bad score overall, but taking it in the context of other Mass Effect and even other BioWare games, that's where things start to look bad.

It's unfortunate, I was really looking forward to the game. I'll still play it, but seeing some of the insight into the story and characters, it seems like a real fall from grace for what used to be one of my favorite series of all-time.

I don't know about the rest of you. But I live in Canada, specifically Ontario. Brand new Games are 79.99 CAD here + 13% sales tax, that's 90 CAD for a video game compared to the 59.99 it was last gen. a score of 75 doesn't mean I'll never play the game, it just guarentees that I won't be paying full price for it. Im a huge Mass Effect and RPG fan but I'll save my money or pick up Horizon or wait a month and get Persona V.

Nonetheless.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Well, 75 is not a bad score, I understand the expectations might once have been higher, based on series score pattern, budget, dev cycle, etc, so yeah, it sounds like a dissapointment, but 75 is not a bad score on itself, as I said, it's still on the green part on Metacritic, it means it's a positive score.

Mass Effect - Best metascore 91 on Xbox 360
Mass Effect 2 - Best metascore 94 on Xbox 360
Mass Effect 3 - Best metasocre 93 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3
Mass Effect Anderomeda - Best metascore 78 on PC

Its not a bad score, its a horrible score lol

These days a 75 game on metacritic is like a 4 / 10 movie in metacritic, or rottentomatos xD

It will probably be the end of this  IP, i hope not. a 40 million budget and 5 years, the most they had to make a mass effect game and they done fucked up.

No its the opposite. This generation has generally faced far harsher reviewing. It'd be interesting to see some like-for-like statistical analysis across genres, but rated last gen Andromeda would have been several points higher.

Either way as you've said, a drop down for the franchise. I'll still play it day one and hope for the best, but I am pretty devastated.

I doubt it'll be the end of the franchise. This game is after SWTOR as the primary reason EA bought Bioware. Hopefully it'll be just like ME:1. Dream a little too big, then winnow down into a real great experience with the second game. ME2 is when Mass Effect's rep really exploded.

So, having never played a Mass Effect, should I get this and be excited about it?
I mean, can't get disappointed because it's not as good as previous games.

Do it, franchise has always been awesome. Most of the reviewers are complaining about technical issues, or because its disappointing 'for a Mass Effect game.'

A disappointing Mass Effect game is still better than most other games.

In the trial the multiplayer is pretty excellent.

My early impressions here.

Think this game will be spared the outrage mob? NiOh, Horizon, Zelda, Nier - all have sparked outrage for being sexist, transphobic, racist, etc. I wonder what this game will trigger.

Where have you been it's pretty much covered all bases , developer in twitter war over not offering a white male option for  pre set character creation ,  alsolead female animator ,in not quaified and hates men furour.

How in God's name is this actually gaining traction...

Is this not a white person?

Disappointing seeing as this is one of the reasons I finally bought a PS4. I'll check it out when I could get it for 20 bucks in 6 months.

Verge has my favourite review so far.

Essentially states that many parts of the game are boring - i.e. a lot of fetch missions. But ultimately if you like narrative and character driven games, it will be well worth it to fight through the pain. And when the game ends, you'll be reflecting not on the amount of fetch quests, but the way your colonies grew, and the great moments with the characters.

It's a joke now so reviewers won't feel pressure to give 9s and 10s out of 10 just because it's the cool thing to do.

75 meta.

On the money so far.
