Forums - Gaming - QLED vs OLED vs LED TV: Which one is the best?

I miss plasma :( nothing topped the Panasonic plasmas when they were around, or even the old Pioneer KURO plasma models.

I don't know if I ever used one, I remember hearing about them and how good they were but I guess they must have died out then.

QLED does better brighter colours
OLED does better darker colours.

QLED for games
OLED for movies

I know you didn't mentioned plasma in to your question, but in my opinion plasma is still king when it comes to gaming. Panasonic and Pioneer plasmas are the best when it comes to colors, deep blacks and more importantly , refresh rate and free of ghosting.

I agree with all of this.  However, nobody makes plasma tv's anymore.  So, it doesn't apply to someone buying today.

It really is unfortunate that LCD pushed plasma out.   We basically took a step backwards in TV technology at that point.

As someone who owns a Panasonic VT-20 but  had the chance to test a lot of new 4K TV I can tell that yes, a 2012 plasma is still overall better than any sub 1000$ led tv. If you go for 2000+ range led or oled no, new tvs are definetly better.

If you like Perfect black levels, OLED.
If you don't care about image quality, LED or QLED.

I've never had an OLED TV myself, so I'm not even sure really how much of a difference I'd notice compared to the TV I currently have.

I don't have an OLED screen myself.
As soon as they make a OLED monitor of quality, and a decent price...

I would sell a kidney to get one, though the decent price part would stop me from doing so.

There's no way I'd personally spend a lot to get one, I'd only buy one if it was fairly cheap.

Anything under $1000.
Unless there is some cool tech packed in with it:
120+Hz
HDR
Adaptive sync

Then I would perhaps pay

I really want a OLED, really bad.

QLED won't be a contender until it's self-emitting.

OLED has a number of glaring problems, burn in being a big one.

LED is tried and true. We'll be using them for a long time.

QLED is basically an evolutionary update of LCD with LED backlights anyway. Might as well lump them into the same group.

OLED however has multiple technical advantages over LCD and it's derivatives.

QLED will likely become a "thing" before OLED ever will as it can continue to use the current production lines that LCD panels currently use, which does help to keep costs down.

There is a place for both OLED and QLED in the market (for now).

But not my heart.
