I'm just going to vote based on what I've but a lot of hours in:
1: Super Mario World
2: Super Mario Sunshine
3: Super Mario Bros 3
4: Super Mario 64
5: Super Mario Bros (OG)
6: Super Mario Galaxy (1)
have hardly played Galaxy 2, don't like Mario 3D Land or 3D World, and the 'New Super Mario Bros' series I also never liked enough to play much of at all (the Wii motion controls didn't help with that).
note: while I like Yoshi's Island, I don't really consider it a 'Mario' game per say, especially in how it controls. Also the original Gameboy Mario games (Deluxe and Mario Land) are kind of unfair to compare to mainline games imo.
hyped for Odyssey though. Hopefully Nintendo can bring Mario back to a return of form as far as overworlds and world charm are concerned. I feel like Mario 3D Land and 3D World lack the endearing qualities of traditional Mario games... they feel stale and as if the world is absent. Granted they're not really the open world formula, but even when compared to the original games on the NES or SNES they seem to lack charm.
if Odyssey has a great overworld and actually builds a bit of the world that would be stellar. No one wants just a million pipes without any funny and mysterious background things to explore
