Out of all the Mario games I've ever played the one I enjoyed the most was Sunshine. It was really fun looking for all the secret shines.

New Super Mario Bros Wii is my favourite. Adding 4 player coop just made the classic 2D platform so much better when you have at party at your place.

As for spin offs, can't decide but its definitely a Mario Party game.
