UK retailers sell out of Switch - Stock levels a concern
From Nintendoeverything via MCV magazine. http://nintendoeverything.com/uk-ret...els-a-concern/

HMV head of technology and games Phil Browes told MCV that Switch’s launch was “fantastic”. He also said:

“We satisfied all pre-orders and blasted through the remainder of our initial allocation. Every single one of our pre-order customers received their console on launch day, and we’re optimistic that with some great games due to be released, Switch can establish itself as a successful third console in the market. We’re a bit tight [on stock] but we’re looking forward to more deliveries this week.”

Being able to actually find Switch in stores is now a concern for retailers. For example, GameSeek managing director Stephen Staley mentioned that stocks levels are “zero”. Because of this, he wasn’t able to sell any more Switches over the weekend seeing how it “wasn’t on sale.”

One manager told MCV that they’ve yet to hear from Nintendo about when the next batch of consoles would arrive and might have to wait until April.

“We are in communications with Nintendo but there is not a confirmed date as of yet. With Mario Kart coming in April I would hope there would be more stock before then but that’s not confirmed.”

Great news! Well not for anyone who wants to buy it xD

Pocky Lover Boy!

I can already see people going bonkers because "Nintendo won't ship new Switches before April!"
But that's just one single (maybe small) retailer. Obviously, Nintendo favours larger vendors in times of stock shortages.

The Wii got multiple shipments per month, can't see why it would be different now. Also, Nintendo promised to ship 2m by end of march and they didn't have them all ready at launch.

Remember when we all thought the launch sales in UK were weak?

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Last I checked the sales were still 80k. Nintendo not shipping enough units doesn't change that, it's still weak.

My arbritrary word of choice for the UK launch is ok though.

Yup, popular console usually have them on launch, Wii and PS4 also had them, Wii U for instance definitely not in UK.

I wonder how many times Nintendo can play this game before people just roll their eyes at it?

The PS5 Exists.

Still more stock required to satisfy the core Nintendo fanbase I think. I can't see 80,000 being anywhere near that figure in the uk. More like 250-350,000 before we start seeing if it appeals to a wider audience beyond that.

" but if you haven't got a unit pre-ordered you might have a bit of trouble getting one, as retailers have said the new console is completely sold out."

"Nintendo ‘Sells Out’ All 40K Wii U Consoles In UK."

"According to MCV, the Wii U sold 40,000 units in the UK during the first 48 hours on the market, completely selling out at retailers."
