Ironically, almost all of these shows are available on Netflix or HBO... 
Guess no one's stepping aside! That said, I feel like there's a lot more quality TV today than there was some years back, streaming services have really forced content creators to step it up since viewers have completely tossed the old model aside, they don't watch what is shown when networks have them scheduled; they start or finish episodes or entire seasons at their whim.
It's a great time for consumers!

Pretty great show. Not quite "breaking bad" levels of greatness, but its def. one of the better shows on tv.

Last few years for TV has been pretty great.
Taboo was great. AHD is good too.
