If this game gets bad feedback, it won't.
My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.
I was a little confused for a second 'cuz the forum topic seems to pose the question differently from the poll question, unless I'm misreading that...
I think we will see a mix of both worlds. You can have a large world that is expanding in smaller portions through signature Zelda items. And you can have a real engaging story like in the original Xenoblade Chronicles at the same time. Open world does not mean that everything is open from the very beginning, almost no open world game does that, Romancing Saga 1-3 is the only other example that comes to my mind.
BOTW is a great game on in its own, you can get lost in this world for hundreds of hours. But the core gameplay and content density is rather weak, because most of the time you wander through empty worlds and every gaming session feels like the same (exploration, mini dungeons, upgrading, exploration).
And there seem to be no AAA moments like in Ocarina of Time at all in BOTW, OOT had a much better overall feeling with much more meaningful progression and is a better game.
They will make games that cater to the 3DS audience as well, top down Zelda will come. I am pretty sure of it.
Wouldnt object against another Links awakening/A Link to the Past type of game for instance..
I hope it goes back. Not that I'm not loving BOTW, but there are some things that can be done better without the open world. Ideally, I'd like to see it alternating.
Zelda goes anywhere they want it to go, so it could go either way. I hope the follow-up to Breath of the Wild is something like what Majora's Mask was to Ocarina of Time; a more compact, out-of-the-box game.
Zelda constantly reinvents itself. I didn't like the idea of a fully open world Zelda but it won me over. I don't think it can go back to its tight structure. I don't think I can go back.
I'm nowhere near as far as you. I've just begun my first traditional "dungeon". With that said, I don't think they can top this game. I think this should be the end of the series.

I sure hope so. They should make something a la Majoras Mask for the next one, reuse basically everything from BotW and give it a different setting (Termina*cough*) |
I like you already XD
My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.
