It's not bad! Not great, either, but a nice throwback to SNES-era RPGs.

Here's a review: http://www.vgchartz.com/article/265192/i-am-setsuna-ps4/

tl;dr version: strong battle mechanics and soundtrack; weak story and too few opportunities to wander off the beaten path

I'm somewhat surprised there are any differences at all, but i'd barley notice 30fps in something like this. Will be fine for any Nintendo-only gamers looking to play it.

60 vs 30, no brainer. Certainly wouldn't buy for sake of platform brand loyalty.

I'm pretty sure the much more likely deciding factor would have to do with portability and not to with brand loyalty lol.

I love the chrono series so I wanted ot love this game too... I couldnt.

Its more mediocre, than it is greatness.  So I guess its like 6/7 out of 10 type game.  Theres some story & paceing issues, its like the ending way rushed to get it finished. The combat is fun though and trying to upgrade skills. I recammend you read and figure out the upgrade system, before you start the game though. Why? well because the system is chance based (luck) with skill upgrades and can take a great deal of time to do, so your basically stuck with useing the skills you put effort into.  Ei. It pays off big to have a plan early on.

Its enjoyable enough to play through if you enjoy these types of games though.

It has a 70 rateing on Metacritic for PC.

I never notice differences in FPS unless its not stable. I must be a rarity considering how much people talk about 30 vs 60. That or I don't play game types that are greatly impacted by FPS.

I think this shows the two versions at basically equal. If you want perfect and no portability, then PS4. If you want almost perfect but gain portability, then Switch. That is at least what I gained from the comparison.

BTW - I really like the honesty and fact-driven approach to DF. I don't see much opinion in their pieces.

Yeah it's the same story with a lot of these "smaller budget" or indie games that try to emulate classic titles ... they usually don't have enough gas in the tank to make it to where they want to go usually because the budget is so small and/or the dev team is kind of amateurish.

Already played on PS4, don't plan on getting it for Switch. But I wonder sometimes...how can Mario Kart 8, a game that looks infinitely better than Setsuna, run at 1080 60. Are these developers just rushing to get games out oun Switch? I feel that they could be better optimized. Sure, technically Switch can't produce the same visuals as a PS4 but for games like Setsuna, the developers really have no excuse. Not that you can tell the difference between 30 and 60fps in an RPG anyways. But still.

This reminds me of many 360/PS3 ports like Bayonetta. At least is better than the recent PC port of the DS FFIII remake. That game was locked at like 15 fps, sometimes.

Guess I'll be skipping this one. Wanted it to be good. I love classic SNES and PS1 styled jrpgs. Portable mode would have made this a must buy.

Im surpised they needed to lower the FPS this is a very basic game I hope the switch would be able to run it at its ps4 counterpart. Well at least the framerate is stable, I liked this game on PS4 but if you own both consoles I would deff skip this, else, its a nice game and worth your time.
