Well, let's see:
To Japan, where handhelds dominate, launch shipment of the only 9th gen portable console was barely higher than Wii U's. Seven days after the preorders were available, still in January, preorders accounted for over 80% of the shipment.
On the other hand, to one of its weakest markets, Nintendo shipped more consoles than any other manufacturer did before. Sell ratio is high (close to 90%) but it's available in all major retailers.
Sounds like the guy choosing the region splits did a good job and supply was proportional to demand? Or he got lucky and high demand saved his ass?
