Forums - Nintendo - Switch is Spain’s best console launch in history

As far as I'm aware Nintendo aren't precognizant yet and can't actually magically know the exact number of units they will sell. I expect they will have gauged interest by pre-orders, prior launches and general performance of their hardware in the market and have landed within 10% of the exact numer they sold. There's really no moaning about this.

Well, let's see:

To Japan, where handhelds dominate, launch shipment of the only 9th gen portable console was barely higher than Wii U's. Seven days after the preorders were available, still in January, preorders accounted for over 80% of the shipment.

On the other hand, to one of its weakest markets, Nintendo shipped more consoles than any other manufacturer did before. Sell ratio is high (close to 90%) but it's available in all major retailers.

Sounds like the guy choosing the region splits did a good job and supply was proportional to demand? Or he got lucky and high demand saved his ass?

See what happens when you actually market your console Nintendo? The rules haven't changed, they just forgot them for some reason with Wii U. Most likely due to the fact that Wii U was flawed from the beginning. Keep it up Nintendo! Everyday, this thing is breaking launch records!

France, Australia + NZ, now Spain.. great!

..but do we need a thread for each country? I think we are getting a bit redundant here :p

I say we need a thread per county, citys and far removed towns. We need to be able to inspect the data throughly.

“Simple minds have always confused great honesty with great rudeness.” - Sherlock Holmes, Elementary (2013).

"Did you guys expected some actual rational fact-based reasoning? ...you should already know I'm all about BS and fraudulence." - FunFan, VGchartz (2016)

I dont think so. Mods allows people to have their own prediction threads. Like there was 3 Zelda threads about its meta:

- Predict BOTW meta

- I predict BOTW will get 98 meta

- I predict BOTW will get less than 90 meta

Same reason why this isn't locked, but those too were getting out of hand, especially the meta threads after the score came out :p

Not a big deal, so it's fine for now

Switch is killing it.

Nice,I show my Switch to my friends (we're Spanish), and it had a far better reaction than when I show them my WiiU. I also see some interest in here by people I've never thought they could have interest XD.

So how come everyone says the launch was shit in Europe if its breaking records everywhere.

It's primarily breaking records for previous Nintendo launches, but generally Europe has been Nintendo's weakest market, so it wouldn't be that hard to beat a lot of those benchmarks.

Highest in Spain period is a pretty cool feather in Nintendo's cap though.

^

Good news nonetheless. However, no one should get to immediate conclusions. I'm hoping Nintendo keeps the system steady

I have trouble believing this story. Portugal and spain are total Sony lands. I don't see how this is possible unless i see official numbers.
