Wow, that is amazing. I'm honestly surprised, considering I have barely seen any advertising here.

Really? I think I've seen more Switch adverts these days around here that I have seen in my entire life for any other console, sans games like Call of Duty having exclusive content on a specific one.

Maybe it's just me practically not watching TV anymore (sweet sweet internet), but I have barely even heard any ads about it, nor any other kind of promotion outside of dedicated stores.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Well, this confirms something I was always wondering - Switch is an inherently attractive piece of hardware like PS4 was, unlike Vita and Wii U. So it's definitely got the potential to do pretty well.

Doing great launching around the world which is fantastic, has to keep the momentum up now. I'm wondering whether it'll keep up, because it's lineup is reminding me very much of Vita's - a 'big' game every month or so but very little in between. Admittedly, Switch's games seem to have much more universal appeal so it'll be interesting to see how that works out.

But anyway, to end this post on a positive note, it's certainly got the potential to do some great stuff over the coming years, and I certainly hope it does if it's going to be the only player in the handheld space.

don't see it performing as well as PS4 in the long run, but still a very good launch

still odd that Nintendo haven't released a proper figure yet

I don't think so given that the Switch is sold out in many other places. I don't see what's good about securing that Spanish stores don't run out of stock at the expense of selling less units.

5,000 out of 50,000 (10%) is in line with the sell ratio in other countries, so Spanish stores are virtually as out of stock just as anywhere else in Europe...

Why the European restriction? Nintendo could've sold those Switches in Japan, for example.

Well, it has sold 45.000 out of 50.000 units, it seems that the demand wwas pretty well estimated.

Reading your posts one would think they barely sold through half of their stock, when in fact they sold through 90% and are probably going to sell through the rest before the next shipment arrives. 5k on shelves nationwide really isn't much. That averages to 1-2 units per store at best and it's probably sold out in some places, even if it might not be the case around you.

As far as I'm aware Nintendo aren't precognizant yet and can't actually magically know the exact number of units they will sell. I expect they will have gauged interest by pre-orders, prior launches and general performance of their hardware in the market and have landed within 10% of the exact numer they sold. There's really no moaning about this.

I have to say that I'm very surprised, given that I've seen plenty of Switch consoles in the several stores I've gone since its launch.

Congrats to Nintendo for such a great start. Maybe we'll even see a Switch game (or even two!) charting in ruimartiniman's March thread.

I think people forget about he power of social media and the internet these days. TV is no longer the only source of getting news out about your product. However, that is really good news for Nintendo that they did not have to advertise much there and still had a very successful launch.

Does this mean Switch is getting a good port of FIFA? I mean, that's what they play there, right?

90% is virtually a sold-out. I'm pretty sure that you can find some switches in some stores in Japan or in the US, and that if Europe had received more units those would've also been sold.

Acording to what we know, most territories have sold around 90%, so I doubt there's no evidence about sales in one territory crowding out sales in other territories...

In best case scenario, imagine that Nintendo ships 5000 less to Spain to allocate those in Japan and that the sell ratio is improved to 95%, although that's not necesarily true (It's impossible to sell all the units)... in that case Nintendo would have lost 2250 sales in Spain in exchange of 4750 sales in Japan, to a net sales improvement of 2500 units! So, sincerely, do you really believe is such a great deal?

Even if the selling ratio would be 100% (and that's not possible), the maximum sales improvement would be 5000 units...
