I don't think any console ever had a perfect release. All have their issues. Just glad it can survive a couple of hits (unlike most smartphones)

I haven't seen a console release with such widespread and varied issues in my lifetime, and issues ranging from complete system failure all the way up to shitty design of peripherals causing damage to the system themselves.

even the 360 didn't have this many problems.

360 problem was way, way more severe. I'm sure a handful of people might have purchased a defective Switch, always happens. If I remember correctly, about 25% of the consoles suffered that infamous Red Ring od Death. It was way, way more problematic and MS suffered massive loses because of that. That's nothing comparable to some people suffering from desync issues and scratches. Which is not the norm, as far as I'm concerned.

That's a disingenuous statement and makes me feel like you did NOT pay attention to the launch of other systems.  There are a few things here and there that Nintendo made that weren't the greatest (definitely the dock isn't designed the best to protect the screen of the switch) BUT defects happen with any hardware, especially new ones.  A LOT of that video was just examples of hardware defects.  The PS4 had a huge issue with them, too.  I also remember the Wii U had that problem with systems bricking, though I do not remember the cause.  This is just something that happens at the launch of new hardware at times.

super durable :P

That Switch going full R2D2 mode was freaking hilarious.

But they are supposed to come off! You rather replace a $300 console or a $40-$70 Joycon?

If the snaps on the switch break then I'd have to replace the $300 console anyways. It would be impossible to play in handheld mode.

Snaps? It's a metal rail on the console held in place with metal screws. Not sure if the Joycons use metal or plastic. I'm in bed and can't check.

Well, that plastic screen isn't so durable though... You'll have scratches on that after some time even if you treat it really really well, same as with the 3DS. So be sure to get a screen protector. Just sayin'. =P

So cool to see people have enough money to waste on that kind of stuff and meanwhile here I am without money for a switch

Lol the red ring of death was the first and the last time I ever bought an Xbox of any kind. I'm not too worried about the switch being durable if it falls or anything. I'll probably play it while docked for the most part whenever I get it.
