A lot of games (including horizon) let you jump between resolution and performance. 4K is great but I tend to go with frame rate. Horizon may be the sole exception. Frames are more noticeable, I guess. Luckily, PS4 Pro improves that, too.

I find that living with a higher resolution may be disappointing/unnoticeable at first but when you go back and seeing an older TV it clicks you see how blurry and unfocused they are in comparison.
It's interesting how differently people perceive resolution and performance. My fiancee can barley see a difference between 720p/30fps and 1080p/60fps (seriously, it blows my mind), but thinks 4k looks amazing. She seems to care about colour most, so i'm looking forward to showing her HDR eventually.

In 2010 - 2011 i moved to PC gaming just to get away from 720p, and early last year shifted to native 4k.

I think if Sony trys to make a device called PS5 in 2019 - 2020 with 12 TFLOPS and 16GB of RAM it will face hard times. I still stand by the idea Sony should be honest and call the next revision a full 4K PS4, and wait and bring PS5 when they can deliver something that will without question blow peoples socks off. |
Considering the vast majority of PS4 gamers are going to be using a 1.84 Tflops machine, one that is 6x+ more powerful (and that's not even including improvements that are going to make the newer GPUs get even more performance out of each Tflop) is definitely going to satisfy them. It's about the same jump we got from last gen to this gen. And those PS5 games are going to look a lot more impressive once studios start to push that system to its maximum, including upgrades in geometry, textures, and lighting.
It's because you just wasted $400 bucks and and you're seeing what you want to see. ANY improvement you see is from the 4k set, and as others have said, to the human eye there hardly is going ro be a difference with 4k. It's much more about HDR than res.
It's hard for me to tell going from a lower resolution to a higher one. Once I've been playing on the higher resolution for a while and then I go back to a lower one, I can tell the difference and it's usually a pretty big one. (Like when I use 1440p on my phone and then lower it to 1080p, I can see a sizeable difference and it burns my eyes being on 1080p )
you should use the original PS4 to your 4K TV and play same game on both PS4 and your PS4 Pro, then switch the PS4 and your PS4 Pro display and ask him again... 
You'll be hard pressed to notice difference at 48inches. I have to sit right next to my 43inch screen to see the enhancement. Granted you definitely notice the difference from HDR.
Can definitely tell the difference with head on comparisons, but in normal cases, I have trouble telling the difference with 720p and 1080p :/
