Your post doesn't make much sense. You say that you don't care for business sense, then you continue to say that the game should be made good for the HD consoles, so that it sells well.

You should have said that Sega should make the game good for the HD consoles so that you can buy a good game for your PS3, everything else doesn't matter.

But anyway, why wouldn't it make sense to make a good Wii game, so that it will sell well? You may say that the game would sell regardless of quality, but consider that word of mouth is huge for Wii games. Games usually don't have big openings and make a lot of their sales with good legs. A bad game doesn't get recommended to other people, so Sega would leave a lot of potential profit on the table if they mess up the Wii version.

Nintendo fans are more interested in nostalgia than they are in actually gameplay. Because of that, Sonic will do great on the Wii no matter what. 2m worldwide sales are a sure thing for the Wii. If the game gets bad reviews, Wii fans will just claim anti-Wii bias and buy it anyways. It's not like that for the HD consoles. If the games gets a negative image, then those gamers won't buy it. When you factor in development costs for this new engine that has been in development for over three years, that would lose Sega for more money than a crappy Wii version ever would.

You're the one that brought up the business sense stuff, not me. I'm going to be happy as long as I get a good platformer. I'm going to buy it for all three consoles is it's good enough just like I did with past Sonic games.

Oh yeah. Just like the case of Elder Scrolls Oblivion, the 2nd best rated game on the PS3, and The Orange Box, the 7th best rated, outselling Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 and Need for Speed Pro Street, two barely-70-rated games.... Oh wait!

I hope thia game is good, the recent ones sucked big time

I like the idea of the game being 2.5D, I really enjoyed Sonic Rush, I think this title would be doing good, This is a must buy for me

Even on the PS2? So much for being too good to run on the Wii then. =P

You know, this might be one of the first games to appear on both the HD consoles and the Wii where the Little White Wonder gets as much attention as the others. Sega, and their Sonic games in particular, have done very well on the Wii so far, and it's pretty obvious which console it's going to sell the best on.

I've been thinking on getting a Sonic game and Sonic and the Secret Rings was a candidate, but with news of this newer version coming soon... *in it goes to the sig*

Is it safe to say that the Wii/PS2 game will be the same?

No, actually it isn't. Since they already have a running engine for the rails part of the game on Wii (SSR) it's probably signifficantly easier for them to work off their already designed Wii engine than to port up from the PS2.

For those who don't understand how this plays: 2D sidescrolling switching to 3D on rails behind Sonic camera. And yes, in 3D Sonic controls signifficantly better on rails.

coupled with sega's history of what they've done with sonic, which the practice was building the game on the gamecube and port it to the other system, sonic heroes runs at 60 fps very solidly on the gamecube but struggles to maintain 30 on the ps2, so I'd wager it's a safe bet that it's a wii game being rolled back to the ps2, considering the sales of sonic games I might go so far to say the wii build is the primary build and it's being visually enhanced for the 360 and ps3, explain the video being 360 quality is easy, they'd obviously show off the best looking version.

Glad I'm not the only one that said this. I thought it was a dead giveaway when Sonic burst into SRR gameplay, and that a lot of the screenshots were FMV that could easily be passed amongst all the platforms.

This looks like Sonic and the Secret Rings and Sonic Rush Adventure had a beautiful baby. I'm excited.

I must reiterate what I said on g4tv.com: the Wii version had better not suck because I am not buying another console in hopes that I'll enjoy a multi-platform game better on one of the other consoles...
In all honesty, I predict that Sony will pull a Sega themselves and release a version of "Wild ARMs" on the W3 (3rd gen Wii) to abysmal reviews... Yes, I am saying that the Playstation brand will fail within the next 3 software generations. You may quote me on it if you choose.

Lets hope they do put a lot of effort into the Wii version cos I think it's success depends on it. There's no argument that Sonic sells better on the Wii as sonic's 2 most successfull titles (not including SSBB) were written for the Wi and there's over 5M sales yet if you look at it's least successfull titles their all ports even though they sold more than all of their other multiplat equivelants added together.

It makes no sense to me (and hopefully to Sega) to give the Wii a port of a game that will clearly be trounced in sales and ignoring Wiiconnect24, online, Wiiware, motion control features - especially as Rol has already pointed out that the engine is in place with Sonic and Secret Rings, a game that has been in the WW charts the longest for Sega and is still consistently racking up sales on a weekly basis - it just wont die.

The Wii will be the lead platform I feel and it may be the last Sonic game the PS360 get.

This looks pretty good! The music reminds me of the megadrive games for some reason... it must be the absence of cheesy vocals. Hopefully it's as good as it looks, SNG looked fairly good in videos too.

First time I've had to make this decision though, Wii or PS3? I think probably PS3 depending on the quality of the Wii version. If it's just a PS2 port with tacked on waggle I'd rather pay a bit more for the PS3 version. But if it's a unique version I'll have trouble deciding.
