Forums - Gaming - Sonic Unleashed officially announced!

I'm most pleased about this part:

"Having been broken apart by the evil Dr Eggman, it’s down to Sonic to put the pieces of the world back together again by retrieving the power of the chaos emeralds. In doing so, Sonic will find himself in a race against time and faced with an unusual situation that will challenge him in ways never before seen. By completing a wide variety of action-packed stages, spanning the seven broken continents of the world, gamers will need to unleash Sonic’s amazing abilities to save the world, and himself!"

Yes, that's right. No girlfriends, no fifty bajillion characters, no "SONIC KILLS A GOD," just Dr. Eggman being his evil self and Sonic rushing to save the world.

This... this could actually be good!!

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

No, actually it isn't. Since they already have a running engine for the rails part of the game on Wii (SSR) it's probably signifficantly easier for them to work off their already designed Wii engine than to port up from the PS2.

For those who don't understand how this plays: 2D sidescrolling switching to 3D on rails behind Sonic camera. And yes, in 3D Sonic controls signifficantly better on rails.

What's the point in playing a platformer if the character moves by himself? SSR's gameplay is fit for a mini game and nothing more.

I'm also glad it's just down to sonic. I'll most likely pick it up. I hope it's fun, plays well and looks as good as r&c ftod.

I want this game badly.

Is Sonic moving by himself? Please let me have control over him.

Glad I'm not the only one who's been disappointed with every new sonic game being the same old "HOLD RIGHT TO WIN".

I missed the days when they made the levels unique :(

Is it safe to say that the Wii/PS2 game will be the same?

coupled with sega's history of what they've done with sonic, which the practice was building the game on the gamecube and port it to the other system, sonic heroes runs at 60 fps very solidly on the gamecube but struggles to maintain 30 on the ps2, so I'd wager it's a safe bet that it's a wii game being rolled back to the ps2, considering the sales of sonic games I might go so far to say the wii build is the primary build and it's being visually enhanced for the 360 and ps3, explain the video being 360 quality is easy, they'd obviously show off the best looking version.

He doesn't move by himself... he just runs forward by default.  You can still go backwards and stop.  The difference is when you aren't handling him running forward you have far more control over his turning and jumping, allowing for better level design.

Uh, first of all this is the first 3D Sonic with a sidescrolling element (unless you count the rush games), and the 2D handheld Sonics have never been hold right to win.  In fact, they are excellent games and very challenging.

Indeed the Sonic Rush titles are excellent and challenging. I played the first Sonic Rush at Walmart on a DS. It was awesome something that Sonic fans should take note of and pick both the first and the sequel to the game.

What version will sell more? I think Wii version.

Doubt will have a good multiplayer if any at all so not 360. Not a pushing the graphics game and its coming out on PS2 so not PS3. Which leaves the Wii.
