Does anyone have any numbers yet?? How much did it sell through day one? Will it beat the PS4's launch???

Somehow I'm thinking it won't as the launch seems sort of underwhelming. I haven't heard any splash or anything like that :/ Good for Zelda, though! Looks like it's one of the greatest games ever made but come on now...is it really a whole 10 points greater than Horizon??? What is it about the critics' love for Zelda??? I guess Horizon has no years of nostalgia to compete with. And I have a feeling that Zelda is one of those games that won't have any haters - notice how there are no random 4 or 5/10's??? I have a feeling Horizon is so well done (first open world from GG and a real winner) that some just wanted to bring it down just for the heck of it. Because come on, those 5/10's are clearly hate reviews. How can one person state it is a masterpiece and the next the direct opposite??? I'll go with the majority 9/10's. I'm playing it right now and within the first hour or so it is one of the greatest games I have ever played. The game feels so rewarding and fun to play. Love the skill buildup system.

And I love how Horizon has like no flaws really - right down to how much detail there is in the world as opposed to Zelda's more empty world. In Horizon I feel like I'm actually there, amongst these deep forests with trees and mountains that just tower over you. Zelda just doesn't have that sense of scale or awe-factor to me. I guess I just want my games to be more immersive and cinematic and Zelda just doesn't really do it for me anymore.

Don't get me wrong, I love Zelda. I'm no fan but I have finished two games in the series (OoT and TP) and they are amazing games but no holy grail or anything like that. I'm enjoying Horizon much more than both those games and that is the honest truth. Just goes to show you reviews are just that....opinions. From this day on I will no longer care about them. They are nothing more than a means to promote a game. Zelda has technical issues yet it somehow still gets 10's - Horizon would have gotten 7's if this haoppened. Zelda's world is filled with empty plains yet if Horizon had this it would have gotten nailed for it. It's pretty clear to me that Zelda just HAS to be a 10 in the critcs eyes. They are blinded by that game and have no clue as to why. I watched some reviews and these people are just gushing over it and it amazes me.

I huess I don't get it as I haven't played the games as a kid. So I'll never understand. But then again, I have grew up with the Mario's and I am more fond of the Ninja Gaiden and Streets of Rage games. They hold more nostalgic value to me.

Anyway, no hate here. I'm just trying to understand the point of view. Any thoughts? 

My thoughts is this another pointless Zelda only score high cos off nostalgia etc and these threads are getting very boring

Considering Nintendo might use their hardware drought strategy again, I don't expect a big launch numbers-wise.

I work at a major electronics retailer that doesn't do pre-orders, so we still deal with old school "first come first served" lines. We sold through 112 Switches, and less than half of the line got one (didn't count everyone, but I'd say we powered through maybe 40% of the line before we ran out).

We ran out of our 63 copies of Breath of the Wild after the first 63 Switches sold; that is a 100% attach rate that got broken not by disinterest, but stock issues. The remainder of the ones who got Switches purchased prepaid eshop cards (I wonder why), and a dismissive number of people purchased other games.

Zelda sold exceedingly well. It took a full day to run out of 25 copies of Horizon, but only an hour to burn more than twice that number of BotW. The 15 Wii U copies we had were gone before 1pm.

The Switch launch, like most high profile console launches, was a massive success.

Well, the PS4 only launched in North America at first, so I wouldn't be surprised if the Switch launch was bigger.

IIRC, the PS4 sold 1M the first day in the US and another million at EU launch day 2 weeks later. Nintendo planned to sell 2M in the first months, so I'm not sure the Switch launch will be bigger. 

This launch will be big anyway, the real question is how it will sell in a couple of months, when the fanbase will already have their console. 

Well, he asked if we had numbers yet, so I assumed that he meant day 1.
