Forums - Gaming - The switch launch feels very quiet...

It's not a launch, is a beta.

I'm a little concerned about their release schedule going forward. Even though they have a better lineup spread out, the way it's spread out is a little awkward for no reason I think.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the very end of April, so it's almost 2 months post-launch day with not a lot of new stuff. I think it would've been smart to have the moved up the early April instead to close that gap.

Splatoon 2 needs to get here quick I think, when they say "summer" that needs to be more like June, not August.

In hindsight also I think Nintendo should've just canned Paper Mario for the Wii U and made it a Switch game that they could've had earlier in the life cycle here. I mean I guess they felt obligated to release one more Wii U game, but it's not like the people who were upset at Nintendo for killing the Wii U early were going to be made happy with a token release of Paper Mario.

Perhaps most people got the system already and are just playing it at home?

Over where I'm at, the system is sold out and a couple of stores had midnight launches, so I suppose all that buzz could have already happened.

I agree with that. In fact, I wonder if Nintendo ended up canning any Wii U releases in favor of the Switch.

I agree, way too quiet. Hopefully they'll be able to stirr up some more noise but I'm not so sure. They need more games, simply put.

It's always quite around here, so not sure about you

Even with the PS4 or XOne launch, it is pretty quiet :/

The question is, where the games at? Seing as this is a unification of handheld and console we should be looking at a higher rate of games than 3ds alone. I'm not seing that at least.

Nintendo should have expanded their studio count long ago. They don't seem to be able to attract 3rd party devs other than indies, and they don't seem to be able to keep it up themselves. The lineup is way too barren, and that's even when you're looking forward to all the nintendotitles this year (like I do). If Zelda, mario kart, splatoon 2 or whatever isn't your thing suddenly you loose 20% of the lineup for the whole year. Not much left.

Didn't even know it launched until I came here :O .

In my region Switch was sold out. Problem was Konami not delivering enough Bomberman copies. I think Nintendo delivered more Zelda Switch on purpose: so those can stay on the shelves and people will notice it...

BTW: never saw so many people in my local GameStop at once. Good sign.

Also an electronic discounter sold PS4 Slim/500GB for 199 EUR on 3/3 for a single day. So maybe some who wanted a Switch but simply came to late ended up with a PS4...

Nintendo has now a unified development team concentrating on the Switch as opposed to 3DS and Wii U.

That alone means a stellar AAA output.

Third parties won't leave the potential of the Switch untapped. They simply can't afford that anymore. Just wait for their E3 announcements...
