Forums - General - This is why people prefer professional reviewers

User reviews on Metacritic are a joke. User reviews from verified purchases on Amazon aren't bad though.

Around the Network

The vast majority of people are ambivalent to reviews.

this happens on most big exclusive games on each console

Nothing to worry about honestly. There are always salty people on most highly rated games. Good thing their input doesn't matter towards the overall score.

Hey, I see some 7s in there. I didn't think user scores between 10 and 0 existed on the site.

Well that's to be expected for exclusives. I personally don't give a shit about either of them

I understand that casual reviews don't need to be an essay. However, it's ridiculous how something as simple as a review turns into a goddamn war on the internet.

Are people allowed to dislike a game? Sure, but it's obvious when a game is clearly in a review war if so many people give it a 0. A game will need to LITERALLY be unplayable to be a 0.

I honestly don't think it's worth getting mad over. I've listened to very harsh reviewers  (like projared) and think I'll trust them instead. Too bad people feel the need to be so petty.

I kind of expected this, but oh well. The toxicity of the gaming community will always turn others and I off.

Jealousy... period. That's all it is. Zelda is shaping up to be the game of the decade at they can't stand it because it's not on their system.

It's fairly common for major releases. The same thing happened to Horizon; A few hours after user votes started coming in, someone botted the user score to the point metacritic purged like 200+ votes in one go. Now Sony and Nintendo fans appear to both be targeting each other.

Normally this stuff is reserved to Sony, MS, and PC fans, but given the current climate it seems Nintendo fans have joined in as throwers and receivers of petty shit :p

User scores online are pointless, imo. Well verified purchaser reviews are still good on say Amazon.

But just stick to youtube for your user scores. Watch youtubers who have played the game and review it that are not MC score people.

It is not anonymous. You can read their facial and vocals in regards to their review to tell if they are just hateful or total fanboying. They have something to lose and at stake. You know their reputation, viewers, subscribers, ad money, ect.

Plus over time you get to know a person and can tell if their tastes = your tastes.

I've been taking this route more and more lately.  It's like listening to an audio book when you're too busy to read and watch.  But some o' dem voices...

In all honesty I do not take user reviews for any products very seriously. Even with products on Amazon most of the time the person leaving a low review is not using the product correctly
