Forums - General - This is why people prefer professional reviewers

I understand that casual reviews don't need to be an essay. However, it's ridiculous how something as simple as a review turns into a goddamn war on the internet.

Are people allowed to dislike a game? Sure, but it's obvious when a game is clearly in a review war if so many people give it a 0. A game will need to LITERALLY be unplayable to be a 0.

I honestly don't think it's worth getting mad over. I've listened to very harsh reviewers  (like projared) and think I'll trust them instead. Too bad people feel the need to be so petty.

I kind of expected this, but oh well. The toxicity of the gaming community will always turn others and I off.

Some of them don't even try to write actual reviews anymore.

Also the constant battle of user reviews piss me off.

Scoring it a zero just to troll the site. I would say the same thing about perfect scores but in this case it seems it is deserved.

The problem is that zero reviews are much worse.

Let's say I put a review of, say, Pokémon Sun/Moon only two days after release and give it a ten. While the score may be debatable, I at least would give feedback on what made me like the game.

Zero/troll reviews just hate on the game, offer a BS complaint ("zeldafan2000" apparently completed the entire game in four hours) and just make things worse for anyone wanting a serious review on any complaints with the game

It's just salty fanboys who are angry over the critical success of the game. It really is sad. I'm sure every single one of the people who reviewed it a 0 haven't even played a single second of the game.

User scores online are pointless, imo. Well verified purchaser reviews are still good on say Amazon.

But just stick to youtube for your user scores. Watch youtubers who have played the game and review it that are not MC score people.

It is not anonymous. You can read their facial and vocals in regards to their review to tell if they are just hateful or total fanboying. They have something to lose and at stake. You know their reputation, viewers, subscribers, ad money, ect.

Plus over time you get to know a person and can tell if their tastes = your tastes.

User scores is the home for jealous fanboys. What else is new?

Such a big issue that even www.gonintendo.com is doing a piece on it.

All that is going ot do is bring attention to Nintendo fans and cause many more to jump on teh site and give it undeserved 10's

No one should ever take user reviews seriously.

User reviews have always been crap. i seriously hope no one even considers them when checking metacritic.

It happens with any big game. The "console wars" are strong for some people. If there is a game that is getting a huge amount of success and if it isn't on their favorite system they have to try and downplay it somehow.

Some people are so salty because of Zelda getting a 98 on metacritic and getting fantastic reviews, you can even see some of it in the review thread on this site lol.

I especially find funny some of the posts where you can tell the person that was writing it was salty/angry but tried to pretend they weren't or tried to "sneakily" put it in their post. Like, everyone else can see how obvious it is, lol. You're not being slick.
