Yeah, I can't keep up with all of the releases! This year alone we've had REVII, Yakuza 0, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Nioh, Nier: Automata and Breath of the Wild.

Not gonna lie... I don't understand how people end up with a back log.
Maybe its that i don't buy a lot of games per year,or that I would only buy a game after i have complted whichever one I am playing.
For me, if I am spending money on a game then I would either platinum that game or at least be one or two trophies away from doing that for me to consider it as "completed'. Only then would i buy another game. The benefit of that is that I usually only have one game at a time I am playing and also when i come around to the next game it may have dropped in price a bit.
So right now I am on horizon, after which I would be getting Mass effect. Then nier. The persona. And after that gravity rush and then resident evil 7.

I got around 150 games last year (mainly because I buy games for 50 cents here, $1 there, $2 over there, etc.), and what happens is that I'm unable to play them all.
Can't wait to play it... I'm scared Amazon messed up my preorder though. I ordered it Friday so not expecting release day delivery but it's still not even showing an estimated ship date. I contacted customer service and they bumped me to one day delivery for free but that doesn't fix the estimated ship date issue...
