Never thought a Zelda title would be on a path to 10 million, like others have said it's a very niche series. Mainstream has never embraced the series the way they do Mario, Pokemon, Animal Crossing, etc;

Don't worry, you weren't as bad as saying things like under 8 million is niche or it would do closer to 4 million.

Niche? Everything is niche if Zelda is niche :P

Compared to Mario, Pokemon, Call of Duty, GTA, yes it's very niche. A lot of my non-gamer friends and family have no idea what Zelda is but they know the other aforementioned.

Because they don't know what Zelda is? Surprise, there are people who don't pay attention to the gaming industry. Point is Pokemon, Mario, Call of Duty, GTA, have much more notoriety when it comes to pop culture.

Fast and the Furious is niche too by this logic. You listed 4 of the 5 biggest franchises in gaming. Anything that doesnt sell 10mil is niche now?

Oh yeah, and Zelda also has quite a lot of notoriety. It's actually very well-known by a lot of people, which is why I said you've weird friends and family. Of course it isn't as well-known as Pokémon, Mario, Call of Duty or GTA, because those are 4 of the largest and most well-known franchises in the world (not just gaming). It's ridiculous to use that as a comparison for what is or isn't niche - it's like saying average Marvel movies are niche because they're nothing compared to Star Wars.

Which goes along with my ORIGINAL point, that it's an abberation for a ZELDA title to sell 10 million when the aforementioned do so on a regular basis. So in comparison to the aforementioned, yes Zelda is very niche IMO. Picking apart my choice of verbiage is moot to the original point.

Don't put words in my mouth, in comparison to what the mainstream public knows as far as gaming Zelda is niche. In the gaming world of course Zelda is a juggernaut
