Forums - Nintendo - The best nintendo switch review so far (digital foundry) (and more)

Grrrr, it gets harder and harder to justify buying it at launch for me... I mean that Joycon thing sounds like it could be pretty annoying to deal with. Hopefully they will fix it soon though and I am really interested to know why it is having such issues. And yea, not gonna be liking the battery either.

Also having hard plastic run against the screen while sliding the switch into the dock is nonsense cause it increases the chance of it getting scratched. They really should have put something soft to ensure that wouldn't happen. Oh and rendering the menus at 720p when docked is also nonsense. Should have been 1080p when docked.

The IPS screen sounds like they picked a really good one and the build certainly looks solid. It's just a shame for the faults it has for the price they are asking. All in all, I will probably skip buying it at launch.

All in all, really good review of the unit.

I wouldnt say its the best, its à very mixed review, it shows some people were right about a lot of things like the kickstand :

It doesn't instill confidence when snapping it out fully, and it's a far cry from the firmness of the Microsoft Surface stand, for example. It's certainly functional in that it does prop the console up, but the build quality here is at odds with the rest of the device. It does the job, but feels flimsy and insubstantial: an accidental brush against the unit, or a light tap, is enough to cause the machine to tip over.

So the guy who was accused of trolling showing the vidéo  of very not supportive kickstand in thé other topic was right.

And their analysis on joycon signal stability is also worrying, to know that After 2 meters, any obstruction causes a heavy drop of signal ( that better bé only software...)

They also say the controller grip is very uncomfortable when playing on TV

And theyre not comfortable with the low storage ans battery which , they feel, requires an external battery/micro SD card/ à pro controller recommended for comfortable use

So Nintendo fans agree with favorable reviews, and do not agree with one which do not.
Go figure.

But the guy in the review says "its not worth a impulse buy".

Thats not really a favorable stance.  DF is basically saying they dont think its worth buying yet.

That's correct.  This review is good in that it's very informative, and takes a generally positive attitude.  However it basically traces all the same flaws the IGN review also mentioned.

The summary is despite flaws it is still an exciting device to keep an eye on, but the high price - including all the accessories you need to complete it - and thin software lineup make it not worth a buy yet.

My 8th gen collection

I've watched a few and I agree. That was the most in depth and informative review. Can't wait until Friday!

Why not just make this thread into the official Switch review thread and include more reviews?

I think most of us have probably made up our minds right? It's only $300 and it's a multi use device so I don't expect it to do everything perfectly. It just has to most things "well enough".

My only present concern is about the joycons. Hopefully it can be fixed in software.

Why do you keep attacking Nintendo fans? If you got no interest on the information then......
