Your next portable folks! ;p

Still doubting that the Switch can be used as a portable console? With that logic, the 3DS ain't a portable either, it also had a battery life of 3 - 5 hours, depending on the games fidelity: https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Support/Nintendo-3DS-2DS/FAQ/Hardware/How-long-does-the-battery-last-/How-long-does-the-battery-last--242771.html

Less demanding games (f.e. the next Ace Attorney, Prof. Layton, Animal Crossing, Pokemon, visual novels...) will probably have a better battery life than similar games on a 3DS XL.

Nailed it.

The Switch isn't flawless but people are complaining about things that are standard at this point. Costs in the range of a Vita/3DS at launch, has similar battery life to PSP/3DS, is near the size of other mobile devices, etc. But suddenly these things are unacceptable.

Damnn lower than I expected... And zelda probably isn't the most intensive game the switch will offer.

They said it was one of the more demanding ones.

But your right, something like the new Mario Oddessey will probably also only run 3hours or so.

Just don't play it for 3 hours straight. It's unhealthy.

I mean I play games for 8 hours straight on weekends lol

I couldn't even do that in my heyday. Nowadays, anything more than two hours and I start feeling like trash.

Pfft, blasphemy!

If it takes 6 hours to charge and 3 hours to drain, will it go dead eventually while docked on a long gaming session on the TV?

Not if its possible for it to bypass the battery and take the juice directly.

Theres no way nintendo wouldnt have designed it to be able to do that. If its ment to be used as a home console.

Man I hope that's the case.  My son's tablet will go dead while he is on it and charging it and it just kind of got me to thinking.

...to avoid getting banned for inactivity, I may have to resort to comments that are of a lower overall quality and or beneath my moral standards.

Considering its a launch title you should hope not.  You expect games in a few years to be more advanced then launch Titles.

OT: that seems really short

TBH it probably will. Demanding doesn't mean best looking or best optimised. A single look at the Switch line up shows that games on the scope of BOTW will probably not be common and I don't think we'll see any coming from third parties sans Skyrim.

Nintendo should really consider a 540p "energy saver" option, seeing as all devs seem to be aiming for 720p on the handheld. 540p looks great on the Vita and the Switch's screen is only 1" bigger.

It will truly be a shame if we don't get a ton of other games to the level of Zelda.  it was a shame with t vita.  Not many titles pushed it like killzone and uncharted did.  So much wasted potential.

Who plays for more than three hours straight? That's just unhealthy...

You just reminded me that the Professor Layton series is done with Layton  :(

Really hoping a remaster Comes. The games are such great games
