Forums - Microsoft - Phil Spencer: this is Xbox's best generation so far

The 360 is the best console from MS by so far its not even funny.

The 360 is a golden age of gaming that's likely not coming back for them. Looks like Kotaku's gonna be on Phil's shitlist for a while.

No, Phil, I don't agree. You gotta be a bit blind to find his comments "strange" and try to twist the original tweets into sales discussion. EDIT: Which I guess that's what he's doing? I'd be legit surprised if he thinks Xbox One has fared better than the OG Xbox and Xbox 360 in terms of quantity/quality games.

That being said, I agree with pokoko in terms of "why bothering replying to this person"?

How is it a reply if its to a different twitter user? Sounds like bullshit to me

All I can say is it "feels" like the XB360 was doing better at this point.
Ive seen alot of xbox guys point out how good the 360 was, and mention how they feel the xbox one is lacking

No way Phil, It's definitely not been better than 7th gen for Xbox fans.

-Several 1st party studios closed or allowed to leave, with no replacements in sight.
-A shift of focus from 1st party to 2nd party, despite all of the 2nd party releases so far this gen underperforming.
-A loss of focus on SP experiences with MP focused experiences taking over (all 3 main 2017 exclusives seem to focus on MP over SP).
-A decrease in the quantity of exclusive releases
-A considerable loss of JP support, both exclusive and 3rd party
-A decrease in the Xbox marketing budget, leading to less 3rd party marketing deals

Come on Phil, you can't honestly think this gen has been better for Xbox fans than gen 7 was. I think your fanboy group may have stroked you ego a bit too much : /

Well; no offence but I do not you can talk in the name of the Xbox fans to be honest...

As an Xbox enthusiast I completly disagree with you.I find the Xbox One is by far the best Xbox to me and the points you are mentionning are all from a very personnal or very disinterrested perspective. I think that if you ask the majority of Xbox gamers (which is impossible here as the majority as Play Station enthusiasts) they will aslo tell you how much happy they are with the Xbox One and what Microsoft is doing...

Now yeah, some real Xbox fans may be disapointed for the points you are mentionning but this is by far a minority.

Also, for what I see the Xbox One is actually the best gen, not sure why people are freaking about this comment. Sales aligned it is better than any other gens, games are there and even more capabilities than before and even Backward compatibility...

This is horrible news for Xbox fans.

Your boss thinks the Xbox brand is in its prime despite the severe lack of games, which means the situation isn't gonna get any better, and that's sad because there's not a single exclusive game on the X1 that I want. If Phil thinks this is a great time to be an Xbox gamer, ya all doomed with more Forza and Halos spin offs.

PS4, on the other hand, is literally twisting my arm to make me buy it, it has AAA exclusives and a great bunch of critically acclaimed Japanese niches. The Switch is a definite buy for me as well.

Xbox360 in its first 3/4 years was better then both the Xbox One and the PS4.

Personally I think its one of the biggest turnarounds in the making I've seen, the pS3 also did a great job and the 3DS should not be forgotten in that remark. I think the Xbox Scorpio still has a chance to make this the best generations.

If it really uses true high-ram 4k textures that might be a big turning point for me, but overall its going to be hard to catch up on the ps4 from an exclusive department, first part vs first party they might do it but so many good Japanese games are skipping the Xbox One there is no catching the hype train that is the PS4.

Altough I respect both consoles I always try to be extra possitive on the Xbox because I think it deserves more then it generally gets online, I chose the PS4 over the console too for obvious reasons but the competition and the way Phil Spencer and his team have tried really gives me a perspective as a consumer that if there was ever a digital only future Xbox is taking better steps.

Sharing games on your xbox, even sharing your membership and the possibility to share with a friend and both pay half of a game and both play it, like if you where renting it out and also gaining access to the pc version, which is my preferred platform but I love playing on my tv too, might end up making this the best Xbox generation for me.

The biggest joke isn't what Phil said, its what the writer said and how people reacted to this.

I agree with him. Gears of War is better than ever and I've finally grown to like Halo, thanks to Halo 5 and MCC. Multiplats have been good and I very much prefer games like Quantum Break and Sunset Overdrive over some jrpg stuff.

360 was awesome but the past couple of years have been a blast when it comes to gaming. I'm enjoying it more than ever 😊 and I've also played some of my 360 favorites again such as Alan Wake.

While your points are fair.  XB gamers bein happy with the XB1 and this being the best generation for XB are two totally different things. Heck I am happy and enjoy my XB1 but it is nowhere near better than the 360 at all IMO. Then it is kind of odd that you tell him that he can't talk in the name of XB fans then proceed to do the exact same thing(see the bolded). Yes they have games but not 360 level...sales wise shoot I am not sure anymore if it is ahead of XB360 seeing as we have not had any numbers for a while but it was before that is for sure.

I enjoy my XB1 but IMO opinion the 360 gen was indeed better. Just my thoughts though....and I enjoy my PS4 but both the PS2 and PS3 gens were better game wise a well. So for me gen 6 and 7 are currently better than gen 8 has been.

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...
