Those are mostly Sony fans complaining, lol.

Really, someone complained Naughty Dog's greed is out of control for a huge season pass where you basically get a new game in the form of Lost Legacy all for $25, that same person is here saying the Zelda DLC "doesn't sound so bad".

I don't even know why people are complaining, getting angry or feverishly attempting to justify it; it's just Nintendo doing what every other company is doing. I don't care for it but I'm not going to get angry at Nintendo for doing something that's accepted by every other company and their fans.  Anyway, I think everyone should have seen this coming the second Nintendo announced MK8 and Smash DLC because you can't close Pandora's Box once it's opened.  I'm just hoping that Nintendo continues making their DLC worth their asking price.

Oh my word why are so many people complaining? You don't have to get it, and if you were an actual Zelda fan you'd be rejoicing over the fact you're getting more content all through the year to extend the longevity of this game. DLC is a standard for most games, you don't have to buy or play them if you don't want to but, that doesn't people don't want to and love that there is gonna be even more content than your actually getting. This is just blowing way out of proportion by people I think don't even care about the game in the first place.

Nintendo has done DLC many times in the past; Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Brothers, With Amiibo, etc. What was so ok with them but not ok with this?

I don't like this in my Zelda for some reason. Zeldas have always been finished, all in one expierences to me, more so than any other game, I think.
It's wierd cause I loved the DLC in Mario Kart, was ok with the Smash one and didn't mind story DLC content in either TLoU or The Witcher 3, but in Zelda it bothers me.

I was expecting to have DLC since time ago, but I was hoping for sidequests and dungeons.

Gonna buy the game as it is and enjoy. If later I find the new hard mode, story and dungeon worth to add I'll bite. But I think the launch version will be more than enough for a long time.

I'll wait it out on this one and see how the story DLC+Dungeon shapes up. I'm still a little worried about variety and complexity of the bigger dungeon in BoTW and will need to see the game up close and personal before I decide on anything. I'm sure I'll be very happy with the launch version and I'm really not too fussed about hard mode. They might convince me of this but I'll need more info.

So, by the information what we got. Only the holiday DLC seems to be worth for me :/ I'm always in for a new dungeon and story, but clothes and items are kind of a waste of resources.

I think we are paying $20 for the new dungeon and story, the mid year stuff is just a bounus.

I'll wait with judging this till I see if the game is complete or not and if the DLC is worth its price.

Now that I think of it, if they're making DLC for a single player game like Zelda, that means Super Mario Odyssey will have it too.

It's simple, you said it yourself. Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros. Those games are all about offering a multiplayer experience with as much content and variety as possible. They are competitive games that are endlessly replayable. It makes sense for those to have DLC for extra stuff.

But a game is game though. DLC is optional and it works in the same way whether the game has multi-player or not. It gives new content to make the game feel new even when playing a year after it's release just like with Smash Brothers and Mario Kart (which I actually play more of a single player experience of). DLC is DLC, and it's value is always in the eye of the beholder. Whether you like or not the sales prove people are willing spend more if it means they get more content to play of their favourite game.

No need to. If they made New Super Luigi U as a spandalone game instead of giving us Luigi as usual, and are now making DLCs to Zelda, it just makes sense to assume that the next 3D Mario game will also have some sort of DLC.

Amiibo, on the other hand, was never ok. It has been bullshit since forever, and Breath of the Wild is actually one of very few games that has added nice amiibo functionality that is not taking away content from the game itself.

But besides the fact that Zelda should never have DLC, it's the fact that they're announcing it before the game itself even releases, and is honestly looking very expensive considering there's only a little bit of interesting content and it's only coming by the end of the year (the other nice things like Cave of Trials and Hard Mode should just be in the game itself, or at least added as a free update).

This. Add in the fact that Mario Odyssey, SMB, Metroid and everything else will get the same treatment and it can't be resold, not to mention they've already got the Amiibo-DLC gimmick.

If it's worth £18, they can put it on a cartridge standalone for £25.
