Why would you switch over to an inferior library? The 3DS library is heads and tails better than most of the WWE library. Seeing the way the consoles sell and the handhelds, I dont see the complete translation.

Are you watching Elimination Chamber while posting that by any chance?

But how? The Switch isn't a replacement for the 3DS.

You're joking...

However, switch is really not 3DS successor... Switch mini lite or whatever will be called,  ( or even a non switch device which will take the same games though ) is.

3DS owners who are interested in home console gaming will find switch the perfect console, but  the 3DS ownerS who only want a handheld, not...

Is Nintendo expecting the 23m who bought og 3DS at 169$ and 7m who bought 2DS at 79-100$ to purchase switch at 299$? I don't think so...3DS sales anemic perfomance when it was priced at 250$ is the proof.

In 2018  or 2019 ( depending on 3DS legs ) they should release a smaller switch, perhaps weaker in order to be cheaper, with a dock and the joycons, of course  because if its dockless and without joy cons,  that wouldn't be a switch, obviously! (  For  199-220$ )! Later, a handheld only device which will take the same games with switch for 139$169$ and I would hope that it would be able to run all the games of switch!

The first one will be destined to those who like the hybrid concept but they want a more portable and more affordable handheld part, the second one, to kids that are known to mishandle their items, hence  needing a durable product and to those who desire a handheld only console ( even though the first one could be enough for these people,  who would ignore the unwanted for them hybrid nature of the system, if the price is  normal for a portable console  ) .

Although, there is another problem... 3DS owners are used to pay 30-45$ for their games, will they pay 60-70$ for the switch games? Well, yeah but jsut those who will be using switch as a home console too.

how about that:

Then maybe they oughta drop support for the 3DS sooner and shift focus to the Switch? A price drop could really sway them as well.

 Nintendo should hire you! heheh

I agree with the gist of your suggestion! ( it's apparent from my post to vivster )

I'm confused. Didn't they say they're looking at a 3DS successor? Indicating there would be two pillars (3DS line and Switch line)? Now, they would like 3DS users to migrate to Switch?

It seems like a mixed message to me, unless I'm not understanding correctly.

It'll be awhile before I figure out how to do one of these. :P

you're not gon convince anyone if their favorite games are not on switch

You’ve mentioned the 3DS there. Will you continue to support the dedicated handheld given Switch could potentially replace it?

Certainly I think 3DS from a price perspective is quite a bit lower, and it’s a system we’ve released a very large library for. So I think from that perspective it’s a very good system for kids to have as their first system. We still see a lot of potential for 3DS in that area. And with that in mind we’re thinking of games to release for 3DS not just in 2017, but in 2018 as well. And the hope there also is that kids playing on 3DS will also shift over to Switch at some point in the future.

Nintendo marketing team strikes again! Switch is a home console, but portable. It's not gonna replace 3ds, but we hopes that 3DS users will shift over to the Switch, so we consider 3ds successor in the future, Switch is a third pillar to the 3ds and Wii U but replace both cos it's a portable home console lol we have no fuckin idea what Switch is.

This confirm that here will be a smaller Switch with a longer battery life to replace the 3DS.

He said that they expect the "kids"with 3DS to move to the Switch.

So? That doesn't mean that he didn't think about smaller and cheaper version of Switch just for handheld playing.

Keep hoping...

Though here is my question: They said fire emblem would return to home console on the switch in the FE direct. So... what is it? I see a statement and i see i wish. The statement wins.

Yup, because Switch is home console and handheld in same time, and Fire Emblem is now returning to home console (because Switch is also home console not just handheld). You obviousle have Zelda BotW that is home console game, Mario Odyyses, Splatoon 2...that are all home console games that will be playable in portable mode of Switch also. Its not really hard to imagine smaller, cheaper version of Switch just for handheld playing that of course plays all Switch games.

Because 3DS will stop getting new games most likely next year, because Switch is totally new platform while 3DS is in its 6. year on market, because Switch offers so much more than 3DS... Its like saying why you would switch from PS3 to PS4.

They said they always looking that handheld and they are not working currently on handheld.

It very obvious that Switch is successor to Wii U and 3DS in same time, and that in some time (I betting end of 2018.) they will have smaller, cheaper version of Switch just for handheld gaming.

So... its coming back to home console... but it isn't because it's a portable... but it is a portable... wow, can this messaging get anymore confusing? Unless... this is you assuming and not what Nintendo said! They have never once refered to the Switch as a portable console. Because they know what it is.
