Mario Kart 8 for Wii U is completely done for me right now. It's done it's purpose and satisfied me. It's my 2nd favorite Mario Kart, and 3rd favorite Wii U game. I've played it everyday back in 2014, weekly in 2015 and monthly in 2016. As of 2017..the fun isn't there anymore...
I haven't been able to get back into to it for months now. My mind is on Deluxe. So why not play anymore Mario Kart 8 all year until I get my hands on Deluxe? I think it's a great strategy. You know that feeling when you don't play a great game for a long time then you play it again and its super fun? That's what I'm aiming for. I've just been enjoying games on my PS4 lately and I've recently taking up TV shows and reading, so I'm too busy to enjoy old games.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will be epic! 1080p 60fps, Portability, New characters (Inklings!), Old Battle mode, Splatoons Urchin Underpass stage, (fav Splatoon stage), My best friend is getting Switch (didnt own Wii U) and we always have a fun time playing, we can finally play online together. Im also taking advantage of the voice chat app thing to make alot of friends on the Switch just like on PS4. I'll see if I can wait until holidays, but I probably will get it sooner.
Do I still want to rebuy everything: No, not really. Deluxe comes out April 28 and that's a few days before my birthday. So ask for it for my birthday. My Mom would always treat me with video games on my birthdays. But if not, then as I said. Holiday 2017. I bought the game and it's DLC, not a fan of rebuying everything. But Mario Kart is in my heart and I'll always be loyal to the franchise.
The day I bought Mario Kart 8: It was on a friday. I just ran 12 minutes straight in gym class. I was red, tired and felt like my lungs were on fire. At the same time I was proud of myself for doing so good. I chose the most athletic student in my class and challenged myself to keep up. After a few minutes I eventually couldn't keep up but I did a well good job in that run. When I walked out of gym class, I instanly thought about the new Mario Kart game that released. Despite me feeing tired, my mind did not change about getting Mario Kart. I ran into my best friend (Yes the same best friend mentioned earlier in this thread) in the hallway. He asked what I was doing, and I told him my plans to get Mario Kart 8. He asked "released today?" I said "Yes, don't care if gym class kicked my ass, still going!". We made jokes while I walked him to his locker until we parted ways. I walked home, threw my bag on my bed and grabbed my allowence money. It felt weird at home because most of my family went on a road trip for an emergency. My Mom made me stay because she believed good attendance makes good grades, so I didn't go. It was my Dad and I that was home. It was a 20 minute walk to EB Games there and back, even though I was tired I was still willing on going. I rarely do this for games only the some games get this special treatment. I walked back into my house with the brand new game in the EB games bag thinking I was in for a treat, and boy I sure was! I put it in my Wii U and it was magical! My first stage was the Mario Circuit, first track, first cup. I was AMAZED with the graphics and I couldn't believe how great it was. I was so tired I took a nap and my Dad made me a big steak and woke me up. I went back to playing while listening to "Hear you me" by Jimmy eat world. Waking up from a good nap, listening to a great song with great steak on a friday without noisy sisters? The best gaming experience of 2014. Thank you Mario Kart 8, I'll see you on the Nintendo Switch.
