Forums - Nintendo - What is in Switch's Sleep Mode? Newsreel sidebar

UPDATE: From the NX documentation leak there's a screenshot which shows the Sleep Mode.
They look like what we have seen in the past, so brings some validity to the data that comes with the leak.

In the end the sidebar isn't for multitasking, but just the latest game news of the suspended game.
Although in the leak a quick menu was mentioned:

The Switch features a Quick Menu. Press and hold the HOME Button for at least one second to display the Quick Settings screen on top of all other screens, including the HOME Menu and any applications. Unlike the 3DS, the active software will not be suspended when this menu is invoked

---

Nintendo showed how fast the system returned to gameplay thanks to its Sleep Mode during their experience day.

The screen captured had three rectangle snaps at the left bar. I thought back then it was a multitasking bar... but since the Switch has no apps (no Browser or Netflix), now I'm not so sure what it is? Maybe it's just to switch games, since it only does games.

I'm guessing you'll be able to access the OS/Home Screen while in game, just as you could with 3ds/WiiU.

The orange screen is the waking up from sleep-mode screen, the one above it is probably the game that's running.

The resolution is crappy and you cant really see it on the video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfK3jmdNVtQ&t=8m44s)
but to get back to the game it looks like it's through the big white square.

The Switch has apps. The friends app, the settings app, the eshop app, really plenty. I expect it to work the same as your regular mobile device. Press a button and screen turns off. Multitasking should work like that as well.

I don't know why I complain, so many apps.

Being able to Switch games is nice and all, but not if you get the games physically D:

With cartridges you get the privilege to switch those physically

Rumoured leak of last year's NX documentation shows what the Sleep Mode has.
They look alike, so brings some validity to the data that comes with the leak.

In the end it isn't multitasking, but just the latest game news at the sidebar.

Can you switch to another game without closing it?

Pocky Lover Boy!

So multitasking is possible but built-in voice chat is too demanding for the system? hmmmmmmmmmm
