We finally have quantitative data to assess how hot is the Switch!
Quit looking for youtube views, market reception reports and just look at the pretty pictures below.

Reddit user 0neZer0ne took a CAT S60 phone with a flir camera built in and captured photos of the Switch to document how it manages the heat generated from its internals. From the pictures it looks like the SoC is located to the right near the stand or heat just disipates there due to the stand.

I've noticed that the 3DS can get pretty hot when playing certain intensive games

As long as it doesn't overheat playing 'normal' games, then it should be fine

About 100° F. This is the highest according to the images which is slightly above average body temperature.

Cover yourself with something cold, and use the Switch to lure it away from you position.

If I recall, if my pc components ever got to like 180 F (80 C) they would shut down on me. But 37C is not hot at all. That is below many computers idle temp, and even around laptop idle temps.

Most laptops when being used jump up to liek 50C. Obviously gaming rigs are higher.
