They wouldn't X-ray it? Because it's dangerous? Or because they're cheap? Here hospitals are fully willing to give X-rays left and right.

Cheap perhaps but there are internationally recognised rules for when it's appropriate to x-ray an ankle or foot. They are pretty reliable but not perfect, perhaps he was one of the unlucky ones where the rule didn't apply.

Im back! ... and with a straighter toe! there a two 2 mm wires sticking out of the tip though :( the local anisthetic hasnt worn off yet, so im hoping it wont be too painful when it does.
