Hardly silly there was a real reason why the ps3 skyrim was a struggle and that was the split memory of 256MB video and 256MB main for a large game engine plus the ps3 was notoriously difficult to develop for with a steep learning curve because of the cell architecture. We only have arm cpu's here and a fairly standard nvidia gpu architecture.  

Fast RMX is just a very basic engine with decent graphics its not a real test for any console. Your not creating a complicated environment. You get visually pleasing racers on humble android hardware its just not something that should be considered when you are comparing performance of systems unless you have set your expectations to a very low level.

A quick look at the game compared to Wipeout shows RMX with more pop-in, more blurring and more often repeated detail and textures. The environment is less alive without other details like trains moving, vehicles in flight. Wipeout certainly doesn't look outclassed and at the very least is a similar performance level. This isn't my type of game though I have to say not something I would enjoy and chucking amazing visuals at the screen and not much else is not what I would call a test of a system. I used to play Wipeout in amazing 3D on my projector with the beating 7.1 soundtrack on my home cinema system but ultimately I didn't find the playability compelling enough and got bored of it quickly and Fast RMX looks even worse in that regard and on a small 6.2" screen is incredibly unappealling. More a tech demo than a well rounded gameplay experience. While I'm not arguing that Wipeout isn't shit as one commentator put it, to me RMX looks even more shit. However in fairness I don't know how many people want this title. Was 'Fast Racing Neo' a huge seller? Is this title important to the Switch library or just a title destined for insignificant sales anyway with few people bothering with it. I've never played Fast Racing Neo, no idea how it handles, what the combat is like, what sort of interesting characters you play against in the game etc. I like wheels and noisy engine sounds in my racing games.

Very nice, will be a much better splitscreen experience, played 3 player on Fast Racing Neo and was fun but having a quarter of a 720p screen is a little annoying, especially when you don't know the tracks that well yet.

Though I'm looking forward to a PS4 release simply because then we can all have our own screen.

Based on those two videos I would say Fast Racing RMX is easily a full generational leap lol. I can emulate Gamecube games on my Dolphin that would look better than Whipeout.

Indeed, it is a very big boost, and Wipeout graphics are shit compare with FRN

If we talking about pushing hardware, Shinen definatly is not overrated.

if you are seriously suggesting Wipeout looks anywhere near as good as Fast RMX, especially with the footage you used for your example (even in 1080p) then you're out of your mind

Hardly the most flattering of images for wipeout. I did link 2 videos of both games so people could get a general look at how courses compare.

PS3 wipeout is incredibly detailed when you get close to the craft and as I said there is more happening in the race world as well. I certainly don't see outclassed at all by Fast RMX. However I won't pass final judgement until we get more details and have seen some reviews. Fast Racing Neo was pretty rough in places and used a lot of cheating and lets just see how the Switch version compares in its final form. We may be comparing a actual retail game (ps3) with a higher spec dev kit game (Switch).

Also none of the ps3 wipeout videos seem to show the sharpness because Wipeout is so old that some of the captures are probably using consumer grade equipment less than 1080p but I think there is a screengrab at full quality when doing replays from the ps3 itself.

I tried to find a Fast RMX image without the horrible motion blurring effect which seems to be on most of the time apart from when the race is starting and this is the best I could come up with. It does follow the Wipeout design philosophy of a very detailed race vehicle which I guess is where the player's focus will be and its direct surroundings.
