Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo - Games developed for PC will take about a year to port to Switch

so, is this good or bad?

It's horrific. One year for a port entails almost everything will fly past the system unless he's referring to bureaucracy...

Which games are created using PC as base though? I think he maybe stating this as a worse case scenario. Seems like most 3rd party games are created with the PS4 and XbOne in mind first and then ported to PC. Just because a platform maybe easy to develop for, things still need to be optimized for the Switch!

Do you not understand that games are in fact made on PC, and for PC?. The ones that neevr touch PC are some exclusives that were designed for a specific branded system and OS, but most of the time a PC version exists.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Isn't this kind of terrible? I don't think Miyamoto knows exactly what he's talking about though. I'm sure devs running on Unreal 4 could have their games ready in at most half a year...if they know what they're doing and have the manpower/brand power.

So dragon quest 11 wont be released in another 2-3 years just because we have to wait 1 extra year for the switch version. Lets hope this isnt true

Well so much for third party support unless it takes off then there will be some shovelware. They need to cut in half to justify most big third party companies like EA. They won't port anything over if it takes more than 6 months and even then probably won't.

Good thing I just built a new PC with a 1060 GTX 6 GB which should last me a few years.  Plus, I don't even play that many current PC games to begin with.

I'm sure they are using a non taxing engine that even the Switch can handle with ease.

Man hours would probably be a more specific measure other than just putting out a vague figure ...

I'm also not sure if Miyamoto is accounting for the extra work that goes into down porting too ...

Always had to downport lately for Nintendo systems unless you use a custom engine made for their system.  Last time Nintendo had a powerful system compared to competition would be the GameCube.

You're exactly right. I know of many multi-platform console exclusive games that have perfectly functional PC builds that will never be released on PC.

Thats not entirely true. Games are made on dev kits, wile PCs may be used to create assets and stuff, it's not like games such as Horizon or Zelda are made on PC first and then down ported to PS4 or Switch. There is no .exe of Horizon at Guerilla's offices.
