Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Switch online priced at 2000-3000 yen yearly ($17.50 - $26.50 USD)

At first glance I thought it's cheap and worth it, but there is a part of me that can't get over the fact that they are essentially charging you to pay for a service similar to whatsapp since it seems party chat is only possible through a tablet or mobile. It will be interesting to see what games they offer. That could be their redeeming feature.

Personally I haven't had too much trouble with the Wii U's online, or the 3DS'. I'm cheap either way when it comes to these things. I hesitate to buying a year of PS+ because I don't find it worth it just to play online and get free games I would probably care less about. I mean it's cool to have, but I'm not gonna vouch for that deal for that price. It's a wait and see for me in terms of the Switch, though I would definitely need it for Pokemon, Smash, Kart, and Splatoon.

Looks like people may be able to join games through web links shared on the app.

Wow! That sounds awesome! And perfect for Vgchartz tournaments!

Ya i think most people are fine with spending roughly $2/month for online.

According to Gamexplain the app will allow voice chat with the opposing team in Splatoon 2.

It's a greedy move by Nintendo.

Then a cheaper price should be considered less greedy, not a sign of less quality.

I'm not going to pay for online (I don't use it enough) but I understand that they charge for it.

Only if the quality is the same is it less greedy

What do you guys think? Too low? Too high?

I'm a little apprehensive myself as a low price almost guarantees the service won't be on par with PS+ or XBL, but I suppose we'll see.

The price for all three has always been a lie. PSN is now the same price as XBL and it's no where near as secure and reliable. XBL itself could easily be free. Nintendo is charging because they can, not because they want to make our experience better. Don't believe a word of that ridicuousness.

So probably €20-30 a year. Sounds fair to me. I expect Nintendo's online service to get better (I mean that's the reason they charge now, why else would they give up one of their competitive advantages?) and I don't play online much anyway.

It´s cheap enough. I´d pay that.
Online on WiiU works very well. If it keeps on that standard + promotions / deals etc. I think it´s a fair price.
