Forums - Nintendo - cycycychris reviews Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

rocket levels always annoyed me. Still fun to suffer though!

I literally had a dream about world 3-1 once. When I woke up, I cried because it was so wonderful.

It was a common experience throughout playing the game too. This game can push you to your limits -but it's so satisfying to follow through and beat this game.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Great review, thanks for posting it! I strongly agree with the points you've made, especially that the soundtrack is absolutely amazing.

Same with the point you made below =p But in a way I'd say that it could be spun as a positive, in that Retro was just carrying Rare's level design torch. Depends on who you ask!

Unfair puzzle piece placement

I loved some details on game.
The possible movements and animations are amazing. Jumping on water and change the position to prepare to dive on mid air, the water movements, hovering with dixie. And DK fur bouncing greatly with the movement with such details, and no aliasing (despite the face and tie are not)!

I think you mean the African Savanna unless there's a vast desert level I haven't seen? :P

Great read as always

Yet another game I have yet to play

While it lacks the ambition of Retro's earlier works, and is not what a lot of people wanted from their first game on HD-tier hardware, Tropical Freeze is still an excellent game for what it is.

The controls are tight, the framerate silky smooth, the level designs clever and elegant, and the soundtrack orgasmic.

this game is fantastic. my only complain is the looooooooooooooooong loading time

sry for my bad english - it is not my 1st language

Best way to look at a game is not what it could have been if they made something else, but rather judge what they made. And if anyone plays this game they would clearly see that this is a great game. A shame that it was brought down by the hopes of a Metriod game.

your summary is basicly my thoughts too.

I definitely enjoy Tropical Freeze for what it is, but I can understand people's disappointment given Retro's previous work on the Metroid Prime games.

This is the one amazing Wii U game that I unfortunately skipped over.

I don't see myself playing it anytime soon either, since I'm basically done with my Wii U. :/

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."
