Forums - Sony - Resident Evil 7 PSVR stats are impressive

Capcom has revealed via Resident Evil.net that over 87,000 players worldwide have sampled Resident Evil 7: biohazard with PlayStation VR.

The stats are constantly being updated via players who have chosen to submit their data to Resident Evil.net, so they don’t represent the entire worldwide installed base for the survival horror title.

At the time of writing, 87,463 players have dabbled in the Resident Evil 7 PSVR experience, which represents 9.48 percent of all players. According to the stats, 922,904 gamers have played Capcom’s latest horror romp, or as they put it on the site, have been ‘Welcomed to the Family.’ We already know that Resident Evil 7 sales have hit 2.5 million, so there’s a fair chunk of players who evidently have not submitted their data to Resi.net.

So it shipped 2.5m at launch, so with digital and another week of sales it is probably around that figure in total sales now. Given that, and the fact it's optional, it could be 150k or more even if you were conservative

Not bad

Not really impressive.

How is it non impressive? The PC and XBox Version dont have VR. So its just ps4 players. When we assume that ~40% if the sales are on ps4 and 30% are on pc and xbox (just a roughly guess but it will be something like this), 25% of the ps4 versions are played in VR. Thats really impressive. As VR will get more and more popular and will also come to xbox (+pc later/without exclusivity), im sure most aaa games will be played 50%+ in VR in 2018-2019. No wonders, its just so much better in vr^^

Guess that's what happens when you release a real game for VR.

it just started. Im curios how long it will take to aaa games beeing only playable in vr and they wont even bothering anymore with the crap "tv expierence". Probl 2019

btw it's at over 101k PSVR users now - not bad at all

Capcoms gamble with RE7 might pay off if this becomes one of the main games new PSVR users want to try on their system

I dont think VR are quite there yet in experience or popularity.
