More powa. Another Oled screen. Onboard memory would be nice. Standard, non-proprietary memory cards. Better cams. A second sd slot. You know, all the hits. Honestly though, if they came out and said: Same thing, more powerful, I'm pretty sure I would have a jeans-ripping hard-on.

| merman said: i know this is likely never going to happen but here is what i would want:
Name: PSP2 Compleatly backwards compatable with PSP/Vita games via Store 32GB Flash storage with mini memory card slot up to 256GB NO physical media, codes come im boxes so they can be sold in stores Ultra Thin, better built quality his thing only needs to be slightly more powerful then the Vita Has a better internal build like the PS4 so its alot easier to port games (games like COD could be ported from the PS3 build for example) Ui is like that of the PS4, not the Vita
Those are just a few things i would want, i know it wont happen but if it did i would want it to feel like its seemless with the PS4 |
If no physical media at all, then 32Gb seems like way too less storage for games. The Switch already gets bashed for its 32Gb despite having physical media slot, and it wouldn't go well for a PSP Go 2 (which also was like that, download only, so that's why I call it like this). Without any physical media, 64-128GB should be the minimum right now on a portable gaming device. Of course, that would make the handheld quite a bit more expensive again since Flash memory ain't exactly cheap yet.
As for the internal build, not really feasable right now. Of course there's the 5W Pumas which AMD produced for Tablets (and which all found their way into Laptops), but their Clock rate is very low (1.2Ghz base clock maximum) and even with an upcoming Vega Grapfics part, the difference in Raw power between PS4 and such an Handheld would be too big to port those games. Just look what devs said about the Switch, which has about the same power as your proposed Vita sucessor (probably even more). PS3 Ports would be possible, but that console is end of Life for some time now and wouldn't add much to the game library which the most probable customers not already have.

agreed, it weird becuase the PSP actually had really good support, infact its probably one of my all time favorate systems, The Vita i hated everything about it. |
How can you hate everything about it when it did so many things right?
-People asked for trophies. It had trophies day 1.
-There was huge demand for two analogue sticks that the vita, unlike psp, nds and 3ds had (this was the most requested feauture)
-Every game was available digitally day 1 (unlike psp or ps3 games).
-It received 1st party support with superb games like LBP, Tearaway, Killzone and Gravity Rush. Also an Uncharted game day 1 (which topped the UK charts).
Sony did a lot of things right. Yes, it failed for a number of reasons but let's not pretend that everything was terrible.

Simular to the switch in performance (not docked, just in handheld mode, 150 Gflops).
Same size screen ect.
It just needs to be cheaper by say 150$ or so.
Cut out all the gimmicks, the many parts, use a smaller chip equal to switch handheld mode,... sell it for 150$ (instead of nintendos 299$).
Success.
Ultimatly, I want a handheld/phone hybrid in the form factor of the Vita. However, for it to survive, I think they need to take a multiple device aproach to any future mobile devices. Any future PlayStation Mobile device needs to replace the Xperia brand, and free Sony from Android.
My Ultimate Sony Mobile Platform
Overview
-All devices run on a unified PlayStation OS shared betweenl home, portable, and mobile
-All devces run on a unified chipset that scales between home, portable, and mobile
-All devices are fully compatible with all PlayStation Software and services
-All devices sync to PSN for a consistant and continuable experience across all apps and OS features
-All devices support non gaming apps from any reputable business or licenced indie app developer
-Sony opens the doors for extreamly easy development of all types of software for with support for all devices
-All devices dockable for large screen gaming
-All devices support DS4 for enhanced experince
Mobile Products (By Screen Size)
-4.5" Slabphone
-5.5" Slabphone
-5" Handheld/Smartphone
-7" Dedicated Handheld
Slabphone
-Option for gamers that want full scale console games, but need the water proofing, compactness, and professionalism of mainstream mobile device
Handheld/Portable -Available with 4G or Wifi only
-Vita like form factor, with addition of L2/R2 and clickable anologe sticks, giving full Dual Shock functions 24/7.
Dedicated Handheld
-Full Dual Shock functionality, full size inputs, and form fitting design for maximum comfort.
At the core of any future handheld from Sony is the ability to build one PayStation game, and have it run across all PlayStation Products. If the mobile device is an extension of the console platform, and has full support of all console software and services, then it can succeed. If they attempt to make another seperate handheld device, and require specific development, there is no chance of it ever succeeding.

I want basically a Dualshock 4 similar build of comfort but matted to a screen. Similar in size to the PS Vita. I know it would be hard to transport a mobile gaming device as bulky as a Dualshock 4 but find a happy medium between it and the Vita. Internal memory of 32g. Expandable with SD card and is simply a PS4 on the go. Saves are backed up with cloud save for free so you can seamlessly play PS4 and then quickly pick up on PSP2. Games most likely downloaded. Also it can serve as a full-blown controller with touchscreen with PS4 and future consoles and with PS Now on PC and PS4. I think I covered everything.
The ability to dock it and hook up to the TV to play on the big screen while using a Dualshock controller just like the PSP
none. vita was perfect hardware. i don't want that memory ruined incase they screw up.
Wow some of you really want another PSP2/Vita 2, huh? My Vita is absolutely perfect. I love it a lot. I just wish those damn memory cards weren't so expensive. Also I would LOVE to watch videos of all formats on it. Not to mention first party games. I was really expecting a GOW and other titles from Sony on it. Killzone Mercenary was stellar. So was Uncharted. Just wanted to see more.
They (Sony) burned us on little support from 1st party and expensive memory cards.
