Forums - Sales - Can Mario Kart Wii sell more than GT5P on first week?

Just a question.. when people say "its only GT5 *Prologue* so its not fair to compare with mario kart wii", are these the same people who continually push the case that its a full game in itself and not a demo? because as far as i can tell, if it is a game, then its sales have the right to be compared with any other game

In my case, yes. Though I wouldn't call GTP a full game, it's not a demo either. GTP is much more than a demo, but it's really for the hardcore GT fans. It's not limited in the ways most demos are. That is, there's no cut off point, it's just not as deep as a full GT game. It's like comparing Zelda Four Swords Adventure on the GC to Wind Waker or any other full fledged Zelda game. In other words, it's much like a spin-off, and spin-offs generally sell less than main entries in franchises. A spin-off of a large franchise is usually not going to beat a main entry of another big franchise.

So yeah, I think Mario Kart will sell more, but that doesn't make GTP a demo.

Around the Network

Yeah it is possible..
And after the launch it is going to stay in wiis top selling games for long

If its WW sales, I think its possible, Mario Kart Wii already sold 300,000 units in Japan in just one day, not even a week. A day.

Though I dunno about european sales though, still waiting for week's sales of it but in Japan it already is
