Forums - Gaming Discussion - Nintendo 1st party actually reminds me of Microsoft 1st party or vise versa

I see it more like:

Nintendo: Video games are a fun toy for the whole family.
Microsoft: Video games are a cool toy for young adults.
Sony: Video games are an art form for a variety of tastes.

That is actually pretty true.

Uncharted 2 had a lot of gameplay, but Uncharted 4 not too imo. A lot of scripted events and not a whole lot of shooting sections.

I still haven't played 4 yet except for some MP, but 3 seemed to take a big step away from the perfect balance they'd achieved in 2. Then again, with how bad the aiming was in 3 at launch (I guess they patched it later?) I kind of wish there had been even less gameplay!

When you make very few games there are no "few exceptions".

Few? LOL. Gears, ReCore, Quantum Break, FH3, all first party.

We can also add the likes of Sunset Overdrive, Cuphead, and Ori.

Yeah and apparently you also stumbled into an alternate reality where Bloodborne,Ratchet and Clank,Little Big Planet,The Last Guardian,Dragon Quest Heroes, Ni no Kuni and many more don't exist

It's pretty obvious what he's doing.  He's cherry-picking examples that only benefit his agenda and ignoring that Sony has plenty of both types while Microsoft lags behind in total games.  Is Resogun cinematic?  Is Driveclub cinematic?  His argument is poor.

See, thats what I mean. When Sony does aim for gameplay center game, it usually not too great this generation. Driveclub was terrible. I thought bloodborne was great however. Now sony big games are going for that cinematic experience. Look at new GOW trailer. It was litterally kratos going down a narrow path and press x to continue.

Uncharted 4 has more "gameplay" than something like gears..... at the very least uncharted has platforming and puzzles.

Off the top of my head it seems like Uncharted has had very little real platforming. Holding the stick toward the next ledge and pushing a button to move to it is really just a more complicated version of walking.

The fact that you even have ledges to jump to or from or there is even jumping at all and that the game generally has some verticality to it is still way more "gameplay" than you would  find in Gears.... which is the closest thing to uncharted on the MS side of things.

Dudee stop please come on.. Uc4 is twice longer than Uc2 and 4 acutally dialled the set pieces down and focused more on exploration, platforming and puzzle solving i don't understand where are you getting this from??  I finished Uc4 on my first playthrough in 19 hours that's like Gears 1 and 2 combined i don't think you even played Uc4 :/

Uncharted stands out in the way it incorporates cinematic elements in its gameplay sections. Most other games resort to cutscenes whereas in Uncharted you're playing as the boat is sinking and filling up with water or when you're propelled out of a plane or when you're fighting enemies in a collapsing building or when you're being dragged in the mud by a speeding truck. Calling Uncharted cinematic and shoving off its gameplay is simply ignorant. There's nothing fantastic about the climbing though expect the addition of the grappling hook in Uncharted 4.

I'm not sure I understand.  Those count but not Alienation?  Bloodborne?  Bound, Driveclub, Fat Princess?  Gran Turismo?  Gravity Rush?  HotShots Golf?  MLB: The Show?  Nioh?  Dead Nation?  LBP, Resogun, Super Stardust?  Helldivers?

Yeah, it's a misleading argument that only works if you close one eye and pretend.

You know whats funny? Uncharted 4 actually has fewer gunfights than uncharted 2...... strange innit?

Don't forget Scalebound.. oh wait.

Guerrilla Cambridge is making it... oh wait.

Kinda silly using that as a comeback... at least guerilla cambridge FINISHED and released their game.  When is scalebound releasing again?

Well I was just adding that because the other guy added Dragon quest, and Ni No Kuni, but whatever. Pretty sure MS owns Ori though... so...
