Everytime Youtube Views is mentioned as some kind of significant figure I die a little.

Not the views that matter, but the free advertisement.

They probably got like 50 grand from the video, and didn't need to plaster this on tv and pay millions. As time slowly brings us to Holiday 2017, I can imagine Nintendo advertising the game to get people very excited for it (along with the Switch).

Pokemon Go, Super Mario Run, 3Ds, wii U, social media, youtube, tv...so many ways to get attraction

Interesting, that's quite a good view count for such a new trailer. That trailer was pretty darn good too I think, maybe except for the "Mario '06" parts, so I'd say it's well deserved :) We'll see how the momentum carries on!

Mario looked so damn good.

I wonder if it can give the God of War 4 reveal a run for its money. 5 million views to go.

Difference between Sonic '06 and New Donk City is execution.

Sonic '06 did a bad job of blending humans with sonic. With Mario, the cartoonish world still exists, but with a twist.

Yeah I can agree that at face-value, it does seem better than what Sonic did. I find it a bit of an awkward look still, but maybe that's just because I'm not used to it, doesn't mean it's bad or anything. It has certainly beed executed differently from an art perspective, for sure. Plus, Mario won't have the awkward sub-plots that Sonic had.

I just like the name =p

It's the first game of the classic franchises for the Switch that's built from the ground up so it's no surprise, the game looks like a combination of Galaxy, 3DW and 64 as well.

Well, maybe if the machine itself has troubles earning Nintendo $ they can focus on youtube income from adsense?

Also I normally think that the Youtube numbers are a little bit of a way to gauge consumer interest in a product but when it comes to Nintendo and the Youtube community in general there is a bit of a stand off relationship had there, Nintendo have been known for putting a halt to how content is created on Youtube which features their games or music as such to me it's almost like even in 2017 they still try to burn their bridges to the current form of advertising your product.
