The 5 Battle modes include Shine Runners (or theif), Coin Rush, Balloon Battle, Bob-omb Blast, and New Piranha Plant Mode as well as a new mii coustume when scanning a splatoon amiibo.

It's just a mii costume like the ones you get when you scan a Sonic or Kirby amiibo for example.
