Forums - Nintendo - "Fire Emblem Franchise" Went from Niche to a Big Franchise this Gen! But Can it Grow Even Bigger than it is Now?

So Fire Emblem started out as a good size franchise back on the NES with 6 installments throughout the console/HH history. Then came a game called Super Smash Melee that introduced western audience to the franchise and started us out with FE7.

From then the Hone Console games were mosre popular western and japan had exclusive titles from FE7-12. After that the niche franchise had its final game coming out. A series that was on the blink of fzero... i mean extinction! Awakening FE13! Bammmmmmmmm Casuals bitches...

Fire emblem now is a very strong IP that is a multi million seller and is one of nintendo best selling games (with awakening/fates).

As of now FE has a mobile game that could potienally expand the franchise... So i ask do you think it will?

Unlike Pokemkn Go/Mario/miitopia this game looms like itll be more addicting and well recieved (not yet seen)

Fire Emblem has a remake coming out FE2 on 3ds, a warriors spin off and a new game on switch all coming within a year to 2 apart!

So can the franchise grow bigger or will it stay about the same? (Or decline)

Nintendo just seems to give love to franchises I dont really care about these days

If we have another Awakening.

“Simple minds have always confused great honesty with great rudeness.” - Sherlock Holmes, Elementary (2013).

"Did you guys expected some actual rational fact-based reasoning? ...you should already know I'm all about BS and fraudulence." - FunFan, VGchartz (2016)

I am surprised FE has grown as much as it did in such a short period of time, and I am glad for that. There is always room for growth for anything, but perhaps they should slow down a bit with the FE games? If they do too much in short time, they could burn out the series a little bit.

I think a Fire Emblem Anime can give it some more exposure. 12 eps would be fine.

Since the FE Switch game would have "console" graphics, that could welcome new players. But the Price of the Switch might prevent FE Fans in buying it........

I'm just happy to se Fire Emblem getting some love after almost getting closed and abandoned. Also, the longevity of the series means we can get a lot of old games as news through remakes and remasters. If only series like Golden Sun or Advance Wars got half of the attention...

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I don't expect it to get bigger. The SRPG genre is always going to be limited in its popularity due to its more complex rule sets in comparison to standard RPGs.

The upcoming remake won't come close to the sales of Awakening and Fates. Remakes are what put the series' continued existence in danger to begin with, because the framework of the old games wasn't fully updated to the level of the newer games.

Yeah i was thinking about echoes sales, i already see alot of people going to downplay it of course not knowing what it is. (I kno some1 in particular but hush hush lol).

The only way i see FE becoming bigger is if the mobile game sets the world on fire (not GO levels of course).

Maybr japan it can make the already half million seller become a full million seller (which seems impossible at the moment)

Yes it can, they just need to add about 3 more FE characters in SSB for Switch.

No, I think this is as big as it will get

Fates in 2016, remake in 2017 plus mobile and Switch in 2018

I don't see FE getting much bigger than this before people being to lose interest

I think the traversable dungeons is going to attract a lot of people. It's definitely the first FE game I've been iterested in.
