Yeah, just like the 3DS has a long future ahead of it...

It was a good surprise for me when they confirmed BotW would be on WiiU. Even if they stop their first party support, I still have so many games to play in WiiU that I still havent bought.
WiiU will go out with a bang at least.

Good. Focus on bigger and better things. Wii U is a dead weight at this point.

The thing with the wii u is there is no alternative to a Nintendo home console, there is only Switch but I guess they are unsure of Switch success and if sales are low may want to keep producing and selling 3DS consoles until they can launch a new sku of Switch at a lower price. I'm sure if Switch is a huge seller they will soon kill off 3DS officially.

Looking forward to Zelda and after playing through that I think I might install homebrew on my wii u so I can play some gamecube games using nintendont. The upscaler in the wii u does a pretty good job of wii games and hopefully will do the same for gamecube games.

Or The Last Guardian. Trying to think of other examples.

I wonder if it will be the last game to credit Iwata as Executive Producer.

No surprise here, they dropped all support ever since the 3DS direct

Yeah, unlike the 3DS which does still have a sizeable active fanbase there's no benefit to still working on the Wii U.

Why would I do that?

Once they've fulfilled their promise of bringing Zelda to Wii U owners, there's no reason to continue supporting Wii U.
