That's a very unique and specific setup you have though. That's something you should have described in detail from the get-go, because you are probably the only VGC member who has such a setup.

How expensive is such a setup anyway?

I know for a fact that I am not the only member on here that uses a projector pimarily.

I also didn't see the need to have to explain this because i didn't think i would have had to even justify why I think its important that a console that is designed to be used on a TV (if you want) should allow you be able to charge your controllers while playing on the TV instead of keeping that option behind a paywall.... which is what this is. If anything I only recently got a 4k TV for my PS4pro and thats because good 4k projectors are still way out of my price bracket.

And a setup like this isn't anywhere near as expensive as you may imagine. For eg, you cpuld get a 1080p projector and a 110" electric projector screen for under $1000. Or you can make you own screen and save money.

here are some pics of the first prjector i got or rather its image on a screen I made. Thats a 92" screen and the whole thing cost me $750..... about 5 yrs ago. This was also in my old apartment. My current setup is a loooot better than this and this time i bought a screen (just less hassle) two of those pics is with the lights on and one is with the lights off.

So Nintendo is not charging $30 more for the starting price by not including something that 99% of people would never NEED to use and makes that item available for the 1% that just can't put the thing down for a couple of hours and people are mad and say they are evil money grubbers? But they don't say anything about an included HDMI cable nobody really needs that could lower the price $10...

When each joy-con last 20 hours, that is a non-issue.

So nintendo has those interested paying $30 more to buy a second grip that has what is basically a USB passthrough for power And thats not an issue?

It doesn't matter if the battery lasts 100hrs... its just stupid. Imagine I am playing on my TV with the grip, battery goes dead... so my only option would then be to stop playing on my TV and start playing in tablet mode and tethered to a USB cable for charging so I can charge the joycons?

When they could have just put a USB port on the grip too (this would have cost them no more than $1 to do).

smh.... I think i can see why nintendo keeps doing shit like this.

NS tech guy : Ok, so thast the grip..... but wait we have to put in a USB C port in there so people can charge the joycons and game on the big screen at the same time.

NS Suit: Yh thats true, but fuck it.... make a seperate grip so they can buy that too.

NS tech guy: great idea!! that would cost us all of $5, we can charge them $10 for the grip with the USB passthrough.

NS Suit: Errrr, lets just make it $30.

Nintendo Fan: Yup,  dont be stupid you are just hating on nintendo. If you want to charge the joycons just connect it to the console when its docked. Or just buy the charging grip if its that important to you, its only $30.

Another day, another obvious thing Nintendo should have done, but doesn't is excused.  My guess is if the online is just as poor as the Wii U's, but Nintendo decides to charge $50 for it, with nothing but NES games to give in return, it will be excused by the same people, as well.

Nickel-and-diming us...

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Well, for the base unit it's not necesary to have the charging grip.

It's still a bummer that getting a 2nd controller with Joy cons (which you'll want for ARMS) will essentially cost $110 US.

The Joycons are 80 not 110

Arms is played like this:

Nintendo could charge $600 for the console and it would still be excused, with "$600 is worth it to play the Wii U Zelda but in slightly better conditions".

Of course being unable to charge while playing is unacceptable in 2017. I already had this issue once, with my Wiimote and the rechargeable battery I had, and it's awful not being able to play when you have time because you forgot to charge it beforehand.

But hey, like when you were not supposed to be able to play the Xbox One when not connected to Internet once a day, it's the consumer's fault for not preparing his gaming sessions properly, right?

Just lock if anyone has made the thread

It looks like the Joycon Grip that bundled on the Switch (299USD prices) will not able to charge the Joycon. Apparently they are different entities. They have one with charging capabilities but it's not the one that included in the Switch, both have different name.

Joycon batteries life will take around  20 hours more or less.

What if the Switch is charging using the USb, not the dock. Does that charge the Joycons?

I guess it will charge it

I know that.  What I meant was if you want to have a complete 2nd controller. You can either get the Pro conroller or JoyCons + charge grip.  For the option of playing games like ARMS you'd want the latter.

My 8th gen collection

Unless you play for 20 hours consecutively, there really is no point for the charging grip in my opinion.

if I were to ever get another grip, it'd probably be the $10 grip that doesn't charge. It's cheaper and does exactly the same thing. If I want to charge the joycons, I can always snap it onto the switch or just get the more convenient charging base.
