Assuming it was compatible, $50 or $40 when bought as a pair doesn't sound too bad even if it's just for good controls or simple 2-player setup on Super Mario Run*.

I would if I played handheld games that need them.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Probably not. There's lots of controllers available for phones.  I had a Shield controller I got for free.  Didn't kept me interested for long.

Not sure why Nintendo and Sony are so dead set against making console and handheld quality experiences available on a phone. I personally would love for the Switch to have 4G, texting, and calling, and see the Switch OS become a competitor in the mobile market. I don't want Apple and Google getting my money, because they have done nothing to enhance games and entertainment, nor do they create their own content.

Hopefully, it won't be much longer befire someone jumps in and challenges the duoply, and finally starts bringing a better mobile experience.

I don't care about Apple/Google, but I use several apps that have specific functions I need for my phone/tablet usage and I doubt these would be among the first remade for a new OS in the market.

I don't even play games on my phone, so no.

I don't even own a smart device let alone game on one

Nope. The mobile games play doesn't need them.
